Title: 1983 (i THINK kdx200)

hello all, my son was given whats left of a KDX 200 which is in bad shape. he wants to fix it up, so any bits and pieces you have and are willing to sell would be greatly appreciated. - the plastics and tanks are not usable so these would be needed. the seat cover is gone off the top of the seat but the sides still have the 200 logo on the side of the seat. I am guessing this makes it a 1983?

200 on the seat would be an '83 but it won't make much difference, there's not much difference between '83-'85.

Does it run or at least have spark ? If you need to be chasing up flywheel, ignition, piston and rings it could get expensive/unviable.

im about to do the same with an 84 drum brake kdx 200 my tanks good and it runs,im only going to use it for vmx/ vinduro.so I also am chasing plastics ,the kickstart seems a bit loose too not on the spline but.ill let you know if I find some bits or if this seems like a waste ill get back to you with what I have.

i have 2 tanks maybe a new rear garde sum were and a expipe

83 A model has no ADR compliance plate, slightly smaller fuel tank (the LHS lower edge is straight across, rather than dropped down), no battery bracket on the frame. The battery bracket on the B models means that the shock reservoir got moved forward, so it's in the way of the carby.


The gearchange mechanism is also different, but you won't see that until you get inside the motor.


The 83 model also has the small shaft for the front sprocket: uses YZ125 sprockets, not the YZ250/KX250 sprockets that all the later KDX200s use.

Hi all kdx tragics can you tell me besides a kdx rear gaurd,what mx style rear gaurd will fit my 1984 kdx200 and where i could get one besides ebay?

Nightmare racing plastics look good quality.

This is a Stilmotor  mx guard with a TY tail light.

Stilmotor A223 that l have on the bike now. The difference in the colour is a camera thing.

The top one is the type like im after,so a same year kx gaurd will fit?im not doing a resto just vmx a 2nd hand gaurd would be fine
