Title: Suzuki pe175 rims
Post by: pecrazy on December 25, 2015, 08:48:59 pm
Keen on putting my PE175 on the road, full mechanical rebuild but no painting or polishing leaving it looking like an old survivor. Thought I had some really good original rims, untill I found the front cracked almost all the way across, back rim dented, so question is where do I get replacement rims at a reasonable cost? Do I have to get anything special or just the right amount of spokes?

Thanks, they are cheap, I looked on ebay but didn't see that listing. Now do I 2 pac the hubs and go all out then not be able to ride it or stick to my original plan?

Rims arrived today, quality is a bit howdy doody, but they are the only rims that were the right size and looked to be the correct angle for drum brakes.

You can still by Takasago Excel rims in 18x1.85 to suit Honda CRF230.

Not sure why you would say that. :-\ 2pack will be excellent and durable and wont rub/wash off/ go dull from cleaners/degreasers. Definitely longer lasting and more durable than stuff out the spray can. If you were to use that then i could understand not wanting to get the wheels dirty or whatever as the paint wont last.

I 2 pac everything, love the stuff, but I was planning on doing a full mechanical rebuild but nothing cosmetically other than clean everything, just to keep that old original patina/survior look. Only doing the rims because I want to register this one and the front rim had a crack and a dent in the rear.
