Title: twinshocks sferic bearings
Post by: ghostdancing on December 04, 2015, 11:06:27 pm
hello guys, i'm from italy and just joined the community

i'm currently building an XT250 converted in twin shocks HL-style radical enduro bike; i purchased a set of shocks (not that quality, they are cheap china\australia product) but for the moment i'll go with these shocks.

they come with plastic rigid bearings, want to change in sferical bearings.. i have no experience on this.. found somenthing on ebay, but if you have suggetions, please dont hesitate to help me.

the shocks mounting eyes are 22mm internal dia and 18mm lateral width

thanks in advance for your help and sorry for the primitive english

You should be able to find something that fits sidewise by looking on skf's online catalogue, probably look at larger hole than you need for your mounting bolts & make spacers that fit locate in the bearings to centralise the shocks in your mounts with the right size hole for the bolts
I'm not sure what the xt uses for holding the rear brake but the yzs used the same idea for the frame end of their torque arms except the bearings were unique to them
Hope that helps

This is a common/easy bearing to get. Ohlins and Fox use 22mmm OD with 12mm ID which can be reduced to 8 or 10mm ID with split reducer bushings or kept as 12mm with bushes that just press against the inner ball part and not reduce the 12mm part. You also use these bushes to set the 18mm width you need. O-ring seals are also used. Either use genuine Ohlins bushes or machine some in a lathe. You can get this size bearing in many brands such as SKF, IKO, INA, ASK etc
Just go see your local bearing shop, ebay, Ohlins/Fox dealer or good suspension shop. GE12UK is one of the part numbers you can try. There are different specs to this bearing. Some are cheap and just black coated and require maintenance, some are stainless steel and maintenenance free and have PTFE lined races.

Since you are in Italy you should be able to get some from here

Thats where i bought a heap from several years ago. Same brand that Ohlins use

You will also find that All Balls and Pivot Works have this beating too most likely.
