Title: 78 Magnum rear hub
Post by: jerry on November 09, 2015, 08:06:59 am
After hydroblasting by Gippsland soda blast (thanks Dave!) it has become sadly apparent my hub is stuffed. Looking for an uncracked one now. Thanks Jerry

The magnesium hubs were very prone to cracking, mine was the same in my '79, I got a '81 aluminium hub for it, and never had a problem after that. The Mag hubs have casting holes in them, that's how you identify them from the alloy ones, I hope I got that the right way around! If not there will be someone far more knowledgeable than me who can correct me.
Tony.

If anyone is chasing hubs for Maicos front or rear VMX Services in Holland have new remanufactured ones.  They are heavier than standard but a lot stronger.
