-
no i dont think there were any maico raod bikes brought into australia....ya reckon firko might be able to help us out on this one :)

Short answer is no. But back in the 50's a fair few Blizzards managed to get here. Very few, if any were imported in the 70s and 80s to my knowledge. Maico importer Ross King bought in one 250 roady for himself in the early 80's and still has it I believe.

A guy rides a Maico 125 roadbike in the Newcastle Toy Run each year. Dont know where he got it from. It always gets a fair few interested lookers.

What about Mick Hockley's 350 Maico that turned up at the Island a few years ago in P4 Junior, Mick ? Jeez, that was a weapon...quite what it was based upon, I have no real inkling, but the boy could ride ! ;)

..........not in Australia, but not a bad looking bike !!

Mick Hockleys 350 Maico is a 1970 motocrosser two engine numbers away from mine. Our bikes came in the same shipment. He couldn't keep the gearbox alive with the rigors of only having a 4 speeds and the bike's now back in motocross trim. Both his and my 350s are fast little puppies. The big difference is that Mick can ride and uses the bike for dirt track, motocross and road racing. He's riding a TZ350 these days on the bitumen.
