Finally time to get around to updating the '77 XR75. It has some interesting upgrades that make me wonder what has been done inside? It came with a K&N filter, Mototek igntion, Boge shocks and aftermarket exhaust, but the carb looks stock.

Hoping for a bike that ends up looking similar to this, but more racer than a Garage Queen. ;)

That will be a great project. Bike looks relatively straight and clean. I remember back in 77, going into Witch Cycles and seeing a 77 XR with the Boge shocks, pod filter, power pipe, black bars with red grips etc.. it looked fantastic.
Look forward to some rebuild pics,

Great bike, raced one as a kid, loved it to bits
slowly doing one up now back to stock its been on the cooker for years but slowly getting there

I have the wheels and swingarm already. The DG intake manifold for a Mikuni and the Betor Mini-Motocross forks will be the hardest things to find.

I am thinking I may have to settle for 74-75 CR125 forks or just rebuild the stockers and add air-caps. :(

I loved mine to death - had a Bassani pipe which looked a lot like the DG one in the pic.

I screwed this '77 together a couple of weeks ago and took it for a run at a grasstrack scramble last sunday.
It's a bit bigger than 75 cc. CB750 carb, home brew megaphone, CDI. Forks are CR80 as is swingarm. RM80 back wheel and 17" front. It's about as fast in a straight line as my CR125M ;)
Honda XR75's are the world's most famous dirt bike and no one can question your taste if you have one (or a few). XR75 love runs in cycles; at the moment it seems on the upswing..

Love your action pic! You can never be too old for a minibike.
I lusted after an XR75 as a kid, as an upgrade from my Kawasaki 75. Never got one, but eventually skipped straight to a YZ80D.
It would be difficult to resist a good XR75, YZ80D, or best of all, a YZ80F if I found one at a fair price.

With the early YZ80's, XR75/80s rate as the top minis for me!

I took my Gemini 80 to a mini bike park back in the dim dark days (im guessing 73 0r 74) and the local hot shot had a new grey tank xr 75 (assuming its a 75) whatever, I was impressed and I couldn't keep up with it. (probably still couldn't....:(..)

Tahitian, the Betors were only 28 mm stanchion diameter (std are 27); the CR/MT/SL leading axle jobs are 31 and can be made to work reasonably. If you want to go out of period with some still Honda forks the half decent 33 mm 9" travel CR80 units are easy enough to get and fit.
XR Miniracer has a repop PK/DG inlet manifold.

SL100/125 front set on SL70 . 1 and a half hours to grind out ,cut and re-weld centre head pole work appox. (CR125 or CT125 leading axle same deal!)
CT110 17inch front wheel option here, straight bolt up. Cheers Tim754

138cc 16/1 on methanol, did need to raise the rear end and lengthen stock stand a tad too...... Just an afternoons mucking about in the spares heap.

Forks bolt in very easily, the swing arm bush tubes are a lot narrower and require a rework.

Thanks guys...It was a labour of love. I wanted something different to the usual XR motor sitting in a CR80 frame. It's all Honda apart from the rear shocks. Took a bit of nutting out to graft CR seat, tank and swingarm onto the XR frame, but I'm happy with the result. It sits proudly in my hallway. I have no plans to ride it. I'm a big boy now so I play on grown up bikes :o
