Title: Dump KS125
Post by: pecrazy on September 13, 2015, 06:29:15 pm
Saved from the dump, got into it in the last couple weeks. 2 pac on the frame, straightened the forks and new seals, cleaned the rims the best I could and fitted new tyres. New bars and levers, honed the bore and fitted a NOS genuine piston and rings.  Some shocks I had, new chain I had for something, cleaned up the original cables. Total cost so far is about $400 including buying the seat from a local wrecker.(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah196/plymoth1/IMG_1865_zpsfai3hhou.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/plymoth1/media/IMG_1865_zpsfai3hhou.jpg.html)

Before shots, previous owners son took the motor out, luckily he couldn't figure out how to get much apart.(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah196/plymoth1/IMG_1807_zpsneb4pzmc.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/plymoth1/media/IMG_1807_zpsneb4pzmc.jpg.html) Spent some time cutting out and replacing a dented section of the pipe while I was waiting on bits, test fitted and realised it was to clear the shocky, but I will be nicer than the last guy with the hammer.(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah196/plymoth1/IMG_1866_zpstyaoahtv.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/plymoth1/media/IMG_1866_zpstyaoahtv.jpg.html)

That's a great little dump find. It's looking great so far. Those old KS125s were supposed to be pretty good weren't they? Didn't Two Wheels rate it as a real 'sleeper' back in about 1975/76?

Very simular to the KX125 of the day, to look at anyway. I have no idea on performance but I hope to find out in a few weeks.

The 125 and 100cc Kawasaki rotary valve engines are 2 different families. The KX/KH/KS/KV(?) are pretty much the same. The Cylinder can do with some work as can the disc if you want shitloads of liquid power
