Title: YZ360B piston
Post by: Husky500evo on July 27, 2015, 07:17:04 am
Would any Yamaha YZ gurus know where you can buy a 0.50 oversize piston to suit a YZ360B ?  Is an MX360 piston the same ?

Have you tried www.nwvcp.com and also Speed and Sport.  If they don't have YZ pistons in stock they will normally offer MX pistons - they are different in the YZ has the cutaway and the MX has windows.

I may have a 0.5 in the spares kit so will have a look there also.

cheers

Thanks Rossco. Will try the sites that you suggest. The 0.25 piston that came with the bike has windows , so must be an MX one. My friend has just purchased this YZ360B from a guy in W.A and had it transported to QLD. He seems happy with it and I am envious because I wouldn't mind owning it myself (and I am not that much of a Yamaha fan).

honestly - it may even be the other way around  ;D - can't remember as I have run both and don't find that much of a difference in performance.  I may know the bike he bought - if he needs an other info please feel free to write - have just got mine set up the best it has ever been and fair flies - I love it.  My boys mentioned about me selling it the other day and I said I would sell Mum first!!!!

If it runs the standard clutch set up advise him to invest the money in one of Davey's clutch/sprocket cover units - looks good and makes a big difference to a heavy clutch.

cheers

Id have a piston for it. you can use any 74 yam piston yz/mx/dt even, be it curved window lower or the 2 window model, only check you have the right rod in it otherwise it will sit 4-6 mm up when using the later pistons.

i would also have rings for them if he is just doing a freshen up.  but you would need to say if your using a 2 ring or single ring piston.

These bikes are the easiest to keep the motor alive.

Thanks Rossco, Farmpro and Freakshow. I checked the Speed and Sport website and it showed that they had 3 x 0.50 YZ360 pistons in stock. I let my mate know, but if he has no luck I will chase you guys up for another option.
