Title: Sprite 500, checking engine oil level
Post by: Sprite_500 on July 19, 2015, 04:57:54 am
Hi all, Sprite with a Triumph 500 engine, oil-in-frame. No dipstick on the screwcap for the filler, can't see any oil when I peer in with the engine running, can't find any oil with my pinky. Cable tie (zip tie) tells me there is oil in the frame, oil is definitely reaching the head (loosened oil pipe fitting to rocker box with engine running, oil oozing through), but do I have enough oil?

Suggestions please!

never have enough oil, fill it up till you can actually see it,run it for a while to make sure you havn't over filled it (will become obvious  ;)) ,personally if your'e not familiar with the setup, warm it up & drain all out of frame/motor,replenish & measure as you go for future reference!, :P
