This has been a long journey to now , it started at buying a 81 model tt 250 7 years ago . With the motor only 17 hp standard I was hungry for more power , got talking to a bike mechanic just starting out on own so to help him out I give him the motor to work on . Now I'm not going to name this guys business after long delays on the rebuild and some f@#k ups on his part after the first ride . Any way the project started with mods to the tt frame with yz front end , rear shock and swing arm . All done frame powder coated 18 months later get the motor back ,I get it installed and return the bike to him to start and dyno tune the motor , well it turned out the carby was inappropriate to run the motor mods so a new carby was needed . So new carby arrived and f@#k me it didn't fit in the frame so was pretty pissed with him got him to finalize the bill so I could work out what I was going to do with the project. So this is now 2 1/2 years and a tt modified frame wasted and now more research to do . Stay tuned more on this journey shortly

Sounds interesting. Do you have a thread with pictures?

Dr the research starts on this forum on hl 500 project thinking that if the 500 motor the 250 will . So I started to put the feelers out for a maico or husky frame , it turns out a bloke I know has a mate in the USA and would sell me a husky complete roller https://db.tt/ZHf0aufM . So shipping organized through dead dog racing and I'm getting all excited on the build know with 3 years down the drain. Now another 18 months go by after all the bloody excuses from ddr I finally get my husky roller with the flame with in me now almost burnt out ,feeling depressed one arvo go to shed crack a bottle of honey open looking at the fleet of yames and one husky roller , well I guess it's time to start this new journey again . Pull the motor off the shelf , sit it in the frame and now the big test , the carby which was the big course of the problem of the first project , its almost good . I roughly set up the motor in the frame and take it to a fabrication shop to set the motor in place https://db.tt/rzAMlLfb job done https://db.tt/uiAz6TJc. https://db.tt/JqxbqxHH next back wheel
-
Bloody well done
Anyone taking this journey will always find the carby, kickstater , brake pedal is the hard bit.
-
Now the back wheel was a dream to do , I used the yz wheel and spaces and it fitted in the husky swing arm perfectly , the only thing I had to do was mill up new spaces to suit the husky axel https://db.tt/sbro3Qss. https://db.tt/rMZTmSdQ. Wheel bearing was easily available to suit his to axel . Rear brake was cruizy to I used the yz 250 h pedal fitted against the frame and moulded nicely around the motor https://db.tt/LP46uOQK. https://db.tt/bVh1OU0A. The job was to mill up a bolt to mount the pedal on I don't have a photo of this master piece
-
Next was exhaust and side covers . So I wanted to use tt side covers cause they suited to the husky seat base https://db.tt/aXVV8mj6 . The exhaust was a fluke , the header was customed made from the first project and the muffler was from another honey session , looking at it and thinking shit some bends need for this , well on the shelf is sitting is muffler off my modern bike so I grabbed it lined it up and perfect ( losted this photo ) next mounted the tt tank https://db.tt/Vq2KFG53
-
The tank was a little tricky because of the husky frame backbone , I wanted to go with a yami tank so I tried mx and tt tanks and the tt was the better fit . https://db.tt/qIxhlr1u now it's all starting to take shape air box is next and my good mate and fellow vinduro yamaha nut Bill V built the box . 2 boxes was built , what happened was we worked on using the standard modern muffler and I brought a after market one and the pipe was way fatter so therefore the second one constructed . Now with 5 and a half years slipped by it's altogether call the bloke who built the motor to tune her up and with many attempts to contact him no luck . I give Marty in yass a call and no problem bring it in . https://db.tt/HZDlr9aW

Hi there, I have a couple of standard TT's but I was wondering what was done to the Engine to get more power?

Looking good Ekka. She's been a helluva saga alright, hope to see it on the track one of these days.

Mick it wasn't cheap , total motor build was 4 grand . A lot of the mods was in the head , it been flowed the same as a modern 250 , valves are over sized and the counter shaft balancer was removed

thats come up great Ek, well done mate 8), building a hybrid will always test ya but they are fun to do and worth it in the end
-
that an 83 milk truck frame?
-
Was that the hybrid you rode canowindra couple year back when I camped next to you? It will be very impressive running at 100%, ????
-
yes Don this is it , it drop the exhaust collit and bent the values ,$2000 down the drain 2 years later another $2000 :o but running again couple of more things to do one is heavy clutch springs and a final tune on the dyno . the standard motor was 17 hp on now even with the clutch slipping was about 25-26 hp . the last thing then is new rear shocks and rebuild the wheels
