Title: 84 YZ250L selector shaft replacement
Post by: DIRTPILOT72 on May 17, 2015, 08:02:00 pm
I had an unfortunate chain derail that has the selector shaft bent near the gear lever spline. Cases look ok and no oil leaks. Can you replace the shaft through the right hand side clutch cover or do the cases need to be split? Are the gear selector shafts still available?

Be amazed if they're not the same. Try looking at part numbers on partzilla or yamaha-motor.com

Have a good think about how ou will replace it though before you start. You don't want to go smashing a bent shaft through clean bearings and seals, and may need to cut it off at a straight bit or bend it back somewhat.

Yeah, i am going to get a bike mechanic to do it, probably wise to cut the end off.
