Title: Where to buy Indian Spokes?
Post by: Gippslander on May 02, 2015, 10:18:14 am
Am building a few wheels and want to move away from Stainless spokes, any pointers on where to buy the spokes made in India?

Have had a look on Ebay, can only see spoke kits to suit Enfields and they would not be long enough for a 21 in front.

Have got the gear to roll new threads so no problem cutting a longer spoke down, 'nother reason for not going stainless is that they are tough on the thread rollers.

Thanks

If you want to thread your own you can get blank unplated steel spokes from Buchanans in USA and also Central wheels in UK has zinc plated spokes. Either of those places or the wheel specialists here like Titmans, Mike Warners, Ash's spoked wheels etc could also make them for you if you provide sample/dimensions.

Also have you tried Starklite in USA or Parker Indian Here? or are you taking about those Indians from the 70's that just had the Indian name on the bike, bit like those AMF harley 2 strokes?

Thanks, had a look at the UK site about 38 pound for the spokes and 30 pound postage, yikes that's $131, tryin to do this in the cheap....

The Buchanan site does not list cad plated steel spokes.

Was lookin' for long spokes that I can shorten, no problem bending the hub end to suit but most old bikes are pretty close anyway

The job atm is an 83 husky rear hub to a new rim, is a modern rim and will re-drill ("aim" them to suit the old hub)

am ok for the front because it's a twin leader Honda hub from 82 and got a nos DID rim from Ebay (maybe not original Honda but a new unused from the day) and a spoke kit from Thailand I think also from Ebay, was easy - they list the set of spokes, but none of the cheapo's list 83 Husky

give Big K a call he will probably have a genuine rim and spokes to suit for a good price
