Title: KX125 Idle Adjustment
Post by: Kenneth S (222) on April 17, 2015, 02:23:10 pm
Putting this up for a fellow club member. He is getting a KX125 on the track, an 86 model, and he says there is no obvious idle adjustment. Any forum members have experience with this model?
He also says that the engine runs, but when he turns, it dies. Thoughts?

i cant help with the idle adjustment or if it even has 1 but the cutting out when turning sounds like the kill switch wiring is damaged and shorting out on the frame/tripples trees/steering stops and the wiring needs repairs/replacement and rerouting

Oval bore Mikuni has an idle speed screw, but no idle mixture adjuster screw.
Supposedly, you can tune them by swapping brass, but I've never been able to get them just right - apparently the emulsion tube is the key, if you're that keen.

As a general rule, most old bikes seem to be very rich on the pilot jet when run on modern pump fuel.
