Caps, bloody lovely looking YZ-E. Where did you get the sidecovers and who did the seat cover for you?
-
side covers are dc plastics and the seat is how i got it un belivably the seat cover was perfect so i left it
-
The 125E is a bloody good bike.
Its just a shame that they've got to compete against the 1980+ models in the Evo class, which puts them at a definite disadvatage in terms of suspension travel. If they'd been released as a 77 model, they'd be unbeatable (although, I 'spose that's true of a lot of bikes... at least in this case, its only a minor revision of the actual 77 model).
-
shes a good bike shes going too look the good when shes done i managed to save her from a trip to the tip by a mates mum managed to turn up at his house as it was going into the skip :o thank god i wasnt any later ;D
-
I HAVE A YZ 125E I HAVE RACED FLAT TRACK AND VMX IN QLD. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW MANY OTHER 125 E ARE RACING AUS WIDE .NATHAN I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY 125E IN PRE 78(2nd 2008 qld titles) THE RELEASE DATE OF YZ 125E IS OCT 77 .YOU ARE CORRECT THOUGH IT COULD NEVER COMPETE AGAINST EVO.
-
I wish i could run My YZ400E in Pre 78 but i cant because it is a 78 model .E are evo .
-
The release date of the YZ125E may be October 1977 but it's the factory designated 1978 model and therefore not legal for pre 78.
-
There's LOTS of little differences between the D and E, but the only obvious performance bit is the alloy swing arm.
If someone turned up at a race meet on an E with a D swing arm and called it a pre-78 bike, it wouldn't offend me in the slightest.
I've raced mine once, and will do again - but who knows when that will be. Can't say that I recall seeing any others racing in NSW.
-
I found a frame, engine, forks, seat at a swap meet going cheap and was originally going to use it as spares for my 125D but since then Ive transferred stuff from the D onto the E and am racing that in QVMX.Nathan does yours need an airbox I didnt see one in the photos.Ive got one I think if you do.The only other difference(I think one of you guys told me)besides the swingarm are the chain roller placements on the frame and a 180 main jet instead of a 170.
-
if youve got a yz125e air box i could use one its thw only thing this bike is missing :-[
-
Sorry caps, got my Yamaha freaks mixed up.Do you want to send me your details?
-
why do i only see a grey square where you photos should be? dont tell me someone has stolen your YZ from the forum page!
-
try logging on.
-
FIRKO WITH RESPECT I ALSO HAVE RACED MY YZ250B IN PRE 75 .I ACCEPT IT IS A 1975 MODEL BUT WAS RELEASED IN 1974 .I THEREFORE INSIST YZ 125E IS PRE 1978.
-
With equal respect back at ya ;)...The YZB is a factory designated 1974 model. No probs there. But the E is certainly a 78 model. They're not allowed in pre '78 in this part of the world. It's not my decision, it's the general concensus.

Caps,
I notice you put the bottom end in the bike before putting the top end on. Is that the best way to do it ??
Cheers
T.J.B.
-
not really i actually had the bottom end in so i could torque up the clutch easier i actually pulled it back out to put the top end on ;)
-
Thanks Caps , I was wondering what the best way to do it was. The whole thing is very unstable on the bench.
The E looks good by the way. Do you think there is enough room on that side cover for three nines ;D ;D
PM sent about the Rod.
Cheers
-
Caps,airbox is in the mail.
-
haha it will have a 90 on this ones the little brothers racing it

Is there something about the number 90 I am missing - seems to be very popular.
-
