Brought it home Saturday

something is unusual about the top shock mount the original location had the upper shock mount in the clear indentation in the side cover. The shocks are more upright at present than their original location.

A very strong and robust engine in those bikes based on the '74 VR250 engine.

Hey Heaven,
                 Only one to pick up on that. Old mate that gave it to me moved the mounts. His mate worked for Montesa and told him this was the mod to do. The original position was supposed to be too acute and also angled in at the top. This put side load on the shafts and extra pressure on the seals. When ridden hard they couldn't keep shocks up to them. The shocks on at the moment are just for wheeling around the shed.

I had one of these back in the day. Never heard that before. Many many of these bikes sold. I will say the original shocks were absolute crap and most people replaced them for something much better. Betor shocks :o :o
