Title: Broadford Bonanza - Main Motocross Track Prep.
Post by: BAHNZY on March 25, 2015, 10:17:02 pm
Given the fallout from the recent Victorian Motocross Titles at Broadford re; the track surface, I'm curious what the motocross community can expect for their riding entry fee at the Bonanza. With the Bonanza's history of main MX track preparation and maintenance (who can forget the sprinklers being left on one night and completely flooding the track) and the debacle at the VIC Titles I wonder what will be presented come Saturday morning.

And before people start on the "it's not all about the riding", yes I get that, probably more than most.

I don't know what MV will do to prepare the MX track this year. Hopefully the new caretaker/manager will have some fresh ideas  8)

Myself, I'm not taking any bikes this year. I want to take a look around for a change. Something that I haven't done, or had the time to do, since the Bonanza started.

They haven't decided on a new caretaker yet, gives them an excuse already for the track not being up to scratch.  I'm not riding this year; hate the crap track!

I'm not paying to show an old bike, might go to have a look and meet old friends; and only because I have a Broadford Medallion and I get in free  ;-)

Yer, it was an expensive 3 laps of a pox track last year, hopefully this year it will be different. Maybe someone who actually rides should direct track preparation.

To be there for the Saturday & Sunday (camping Saturday night), a one day licence and entry for 2 bikes you’re looking at $160 before you take into account bike maintence. I'm starting to think like John and others in that I’ll leave the bikes at home and just spectate and camp the night.

Get out a Vinduro ride Bahnsy and you'll get lots of ride time in. You can also use it on the MX track if it looks inviting!
Why is it only the MX guys who whinge about a track being less than perfectly groomed? I thought MX was about bouncing over less than perfect terrain. Prima donnas I tell yez, the lot of 'em!

I am too worried by this That you have to Pay to bring a Bike even if its just to show it off ..
I will not take any bike to show ..

So I ask the Question will there be any bike on show ???

I welcome a technical rough, especially rutted track, I don't enjoy a one-line bog hole (or) dust bowl. To have a track that only a small percentage of riders/bikes can safely get around is nutz.

And I get the tongue in cheek prima donna line  ;D

Whilst my bikes maybe of show quality, they are riders. Unless it's an event to promote the sport like the bike expo, I won't take a bike just to display it, I'm going to ride it.

Good. It takes the fun away if everything has to be explained! ;D

I'd always wanted to ride Broadford and was bitterly disappointed to drive down from Canberra to the mudfest that it was and you couldn't blame the weather. I did go out 3 times to have a go but couldn't get around the track it was so bad.
Hats off again and a huge thanks to JohnnyO who got up at the crack of dawn Sunday and spent a few hours on the tractor getting the track into great shape!
I hope the track’s in good nick this year and I wouldn’t mind bludging a ride on the dirt track if someone wouldn’t mind me taking their steed for a few slow laps.

If I had a Vinduro bike ready to roll ( Rebuilding XR350) I'd be up for the Vinduro ride. Just so I can come and bang my head against the trees like the rest of the forest dwellers.....

the redplate was a winner last year and followed by  few laps about the place was a good day. I planned to bring the 510 over but ive actually got some work and easter looks like being cancelled to get some drilling done before the weather breaks :-\
