You realise you'll have to nobble them so that they don't have more than 9" of travel?

Most had a spacer on the springs at the top. cut a  smaller spacer of it & include with the top out spring.

Yeah I know, I just want to get the period correct forks. I will shorten up the stroke if nessasary but if u saw how fast I ride u would understand that there is not much chance of me being subject to a protest????

By the comments on the forum regarding the 9" rule I think there is a pretty good chance the MOMS could be amended? Just need to put in the paperwork & get enough people to support it. There was some very strong resistance to 4 stroke class being added but it is now in there.

If you don't do any good let me know I may have a spare set somewhere. Do you need triple clamps as well?

What is your price range?

Lots of set in the US.

The 3 ebay ones are all 1978 or later forks. 1977 forks have only one drain nib at the back of the fork. From memory the under hang from the axle is longer also on 78's.
You would be challenged getting the bike off the trailer by someone in the know! As it did to me........ :( :o
It took me 6 months of ebaying to find the right set.

Good luck..

Yes all correct , 20mm longer under the axle , hence the extra drain hole lug. They get bought up for HL's  built for pre 78 that's why they are hard to come by.

Doesn't matter how slow (or fast) you are Al, someone will protest you just because they can, even if it's of no concern of theirs. It's the way things are.  :-\

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

Yes the 77 forks only have the 1 drain nib at the back & aren't as long under the axil.

As it happens I do want the forks for a HL, I have 43s on it now & race it in evo but want to make it pre78.

I am also chasing a 77 Husky CR250/390 frame & swingarm as I want to build a replica of the original prototype HL. I already have the seat & tank, wheels, parts to make an engine & a 34mm Amal carb.

Any leads will be appreciated.

I guess I will have to limit the fork travel until such time as there is an amendment to the rule?

Thanks Viper666,
As discussed above, I am chasing the single drain nib forks. If you had a set I would definitely be interested. Triple clamps would be handy too.

Thanks

There wont be an amendment to the rule unless you &/or Perko make a submission to MA

As for the 77 Husky, Big K is your man there. If he hasnt got what you need he can probably find it for you  ;)
