Title: Beware fake I.D when selling bikes

When advertising a bike/car beware of the prospective buyer, maybe having a false licence / i.d.
 A young guy was arrested here last week for trafficking drugs, loaded handgun, possess proceeds of crime, etc.
In his wallet ( along with $8000 cash at 12.30 in the morning...Whats the cash for ? Answer - i'm going to buy a car now...who from ? answer- I dunno... what model / brand car?  Answer -I dunno....) were 5 Victorian driver licences, all bearing his photo , but all different names and addresses, false medicare cards, and genuine bank cards, but with false identities- the bank accounts had been set up with the fake licences and fake medicare cards. Apparently easy to get via the good old internet. No cash, no test ride/drive I reckon.

Heres another tip. No one wants a prospective buyer at their house. Arrange to meet them at a servo that is convenient.
With driveoffs/robberies etc most modern servos are equipped with more CCTV cameras than a casino.
Same rules apply. Without the cash,dont take it off the trailer. Take a short video of it starting and running if you dont want to offer a test ride.

Have herd some people printing up fake bank cheques before they look at the item for sale .
You are Better to go down the bank with them to the teller.
also folding cash notes in half and they are counting the same note twice in front of you .
I have been caught out on small jobs through work got home and counted it as was short to late because I had left , should of counted it front of them :'(

Also, the seller should count the money in front of the person who just gave it to them...

Heard a story a while ago, about a bloke buying a project car. Rolled it onto the trailer, handed the seller the cash (which had already been double checked), and then set to tying the car onto the trailer.

Then the seller says "mate, you're $400 short"...
"No, it's been double checked - you've got the right amount".
"Nope there's definitely $400 missing"

Seems that the seller stashed $400 in a pocket, then claimed that he'd been underpaid.

That said, you've gotta be realistic. If you treat everyone like a scammer who is intent on ripping you off, then you'll never sell (or buy) anything and everyone will think you're a dickhead.

And always have at least one third party with you... ;)
