Well after returning them 2 times for major stuff ups, finally got them back after arguments and BS, drove an hour and a half to a practice track, shockers seized on trailer, my poor brother is pulling his hair out, I told him early in the peace, its Ohlins or nothing. Its a real shame aussie made rubbish.

Yep Ikon are rubbish, the ones I've seen have come with weak damping and the wrong spring rates.
Nothing like the Konis they replaced. Are they supposed to be Aussie made?
-
I would expect them to be Aussie assembled with Koni components?
-
So people should put up with sh!te just to keep a potential sponsor happy

I don't think they're Koni components, more like cheap Chinese copies
-
Not correct , but I thought the know all would know all :D. I thought we all agreed not to slag or defame people , businesses or associations etc ..... No wonder sponsors , advertisers and suppliers concentrate more and more in other areas . :(
This is a forum where people are free to give opinions and rate products, it's not a website for advertising.
-
Wally the bloke has had a really bad experience with a product and has chosen to share his experience with other potential consumers .
The manufacturer or retailer has the right of rebuttal on here should he choose to
People share both good and bad product experiences on here its a good thing .
-
Ask the people that make them , first ;). Could be cheaper for you in the long run . I am sure Geoffrey knows who John Kittle is and where to find him . ;)
What the fork are you on about clown?
-
Most of there stuff comes from India not China not that makes any real difference. I have not had any good experience with them.

I work on dirt bikes daily for a living and part of that work is suspension rebuilding and revalving.
I also ride/race dirt bikes weekly and test a lot of different products.
I am more than qualified to report on what I've found with various products. We had a PE175 fitted with Ikon shocks in last week so my comments are feedback from what I found with those shocks and not just made up bullshite!
-
I can understand the frustration of the OP. Traveling a long way for a ride only to have a component fail is not fun.
From the Ikon website "Last but not least, IKON’s are built to last a lifetime. Once you bought a set of IKON’s for your motorcycle, they usually will outlive it. The reason for this comes from nature of the materials used in the first place as well as the fact that all IKON shocks are rebuildable. " http://www.ikonsuspension.com/why-ikon/
The shocks come from a variety of sources around the world "Component suppliers were located in Australia and overseas to provide various parts needed to make shock absorbers" http://www.ikonsuspension.com/about/
I would hope that Ikon could get to the root of the problem with these particular shocks.. there is obviously some sort of problem....."Ikon Suspension is more than just a warehouse, and more than just a factory. We have considerable experience, gained from our many years of specialising in suspension. Our factory not only has facilities and equipment for R & D, manufacture and testing those products we commonly sell but also the servicing shock absorbers of many different designs and capacities." http://www.ikonsuspension.com/about/
Cheers,

Users have always been legally responsible for their own comments.
The responsibility of the forum owner is much more difficult to define.
What has changed fairly recently, is that the truth is a defence. So if Ken Baker can prove what he's saying is correct, then nobody has anything to worry about.
Defamation is quite difficult to prove in Australia. Generally, people only get themselves into trouble when they get overly excited and present untruths about another person/entity as fact.
Stating dissatisfaction is rarely defamatory.
Businesses (and often individuals) who attempt defamation cases usually find that it backfires on them, as it brings a lot more negative publicity than the original statement ever could have.

Too right. And rightly so.
Asking others on a forum, the pub, the paddock or anywhere else if they've had a problem with a certain manufacturer or supplier could hardly be called defamatory comment. My other half investigates just about anything she is wanting or considering to buy on various forums and she often reads out to me problems people have had with a certain product or manufacturer. She then knows not to buy that product or deal that supplier.
A business can't just use the internet for there own agenda and not expect "viral" comeback if their product/service/attitude is not what they claim it to be. This is life in the age of instant communication.

I am sure there are at least couple of hundred other people doing the same great job for the motorcycle community in Australia , as you do . That does represent about 0.5 % of feed back. But probably not enough to destroy a reputation . . ;D
So feel free to stop wasting my time with your complaints..

I've worked in the motorcycle industry for 40 years, I have never had a problem with Ikon shocks on my own bikes or a customers.
But I have paid much more for a pair of shocks than I would have paid for Ikon's, found they were not in-the-ballpark settings-wise and was quoted a couple of hundred dollars for a revalve! Would expect the atleast the first revalve to be FOC?
-
WTF??? This thread has turned utterly ridiculous & stupid, which seems to be the norm of late.

I've just had a set of Koni's 7610's serviced and returned in under a week from Ikon. An overall positive experience in my case.
-
The stuff you in particular are posting.
-
Well cannot see k what's so ridiculous about it really it's all about customer service seller etiquette (like another subject on here )and servicing there product .
-
Yes k would agree with that from wasp it's over the top surely can be sorted over the phone and not on here pages and pages of dribble
-
That's not the ridiculous stuff Chris. Talking about & hinting toward legal action for defamatory comments, then a poor attempt at disguising threats by using Corellas as examples. If that's not ridiculous, tell me what is.

Yes mick your right on that .Pages of dribble getting no where and another shock supplier having a say isn't making things look good for himself .FFS lock it up it's done .
-
Well said Walter ::)
