To be held in WA at the Southern Capes complex near Busselton.
Date to be advised, relevant information, Sup Regs etc as soon as available
It is a beautifull part of the country with heaps to see in the nearby areas.
-
I really want to get there. Any body from Victoria that is interested in going, why not share the cost and driving with somoene or 2. Knock Knock....I'm keen.
-
Heres hoping all the planets aline, have been looking forward to WA nats for awhile but after thinking they may not happen this year I have organized 2 family holidays. Will have to be a good boy so the lovely wife gives me a leave pass if the dates work out.
Eagerly await the dates.
Thanks for everyones efforts in making it happen
-
Looking forward to seeing you at the WA nats this year Troy. Bring as many of your SA mates as you can, I am sure we will make it worth your while! I have spoken to MWA today and stressed the importance of locking in a date for you guy's, (our Eastern states buddy's), to enable you to make your plans. We are hopeful that we will receive news of the date soon :D

Nice looking track :D
-
Thanks for the heads up on the track VMX247. Gotta say, I wasn't expecting the hard pack. Looks like a nicely flowing track
-
Nice track, facilities and location, depending on when they run it, you might get the choice of a run at Narrogin the week before and a run at the Bridgetown Classic Scramble the week after. Waiting for their decision of when they want to run it, belief is it won't be during our winter July/August
-
Geez Tossa. Now have me thinking about selling the house so I can afford 3 weeks holidaying in WA... Could be a worse way to end up living in a caravan.....
-
Confirmed by MA to SC Southern Capes 4th,5th & 6th September 2015

I had better organise a bike ;-)

Only four months to go !
Quite correct. I spoke to Michael McDonald, (Southern Capes MCC President), last week and he tells me that Supp Regs are currently being worked on and MA should have them fairly soon for approval. Better get those bikes ready!! :)
-
Trying to make some plans for September, can anyone tell me if Friday the 4th is for scrutineering only.
Cheers Troy

Can't wait, the rest of Australia should support WA for the time, money, effort and passion that WA has shown.

Can't see an indemnity form and class form to send in nomination tho

Sorry, didn't see the entry bit underneath

Only 9 weeks away
-
Entry about to go in. Lets have some fun
-
There may be some confusion for newbys;.. but at first glance it looks like it will cost you $150 to enter the "age group" racing.. Whilst I understand that you have the ability to only enter the age group racing (so people do) .. after having entered in a year/ capacity race, then the age group racing should not cost you "extra".. so $150 for the first bike.. extra bikes $20 .. age group is a "freebie".. well.. that is how I understand it..
-
Yeah Watto I believe that's the case, enter the class and age group free
-
We in Qld are working on the container issue and hope to attend in force. We owe you that.
I see no Supersenior class
What timing system? Quite a few of us have our own Mylaps transpoders
-
They are supplying transponders they are in the Sup Regs. I ask about the super seniors.
-
Ok super seniors will be run, there has been a miscommunication from MA but the club is sorting it out.
Transponders provided by club
Entry in an open class pre75 will give you entry in an age group
hope that helps
-
Super seniors over 70's class has officially been sorted, and yes there was a misunderstanding regarding the interpretation of the amendment of that particular class. Received advice from MA late this afternoon that the class will be offered on the entry form. The Southern Capes club would really appreciate commitment from our discipline by entering the event sooner rather than later, thereby giving them some assurance of support for the event.
Cheers
Nick

-
I think the entry form is still not correct.. it shows the "super senior class" as pre 78, but my recent observations of how that class was run, is that it is pre 75...
-
"Super Seniors" over 70 age class is now allowing riders to compete on Pre 78 machines. Bringing the class into line with Classic MX era cap. The entry for is a little confusing with the $150.00 for each class on the form, however if one refers to one of the previous pages it refers to $150.00 entry fee plus $20.00 each additional bike.
Cheers
Nick
-
So, you could have a 72 year old rider on a pre 60 bike..and another supersenior competitor on a 1977 bike..in the same race..wonder which bike will be chosen..This mix of era bikes won't be seen in any other facet of Classic MX..
-
It is, in womens class (up to Pre78) and 4 stroke (up to Pre75)
Qld titles had six Superseniors, fastest was on aPre65 500 which failed with a lap to go on last race when leading easily. Winner overall was on a Pre60 500, 2nd aPre78 400, 3rd a Pre75 250.
It's all about the rider, eg my lap time at last years Qld title between my Pre65 Twin Port CZ and Evo 250 Maico was about one second over a two km lap
-
Any Queensland or Northern NSW riders interested in competing please contact me as we are finalising a container to ship bikes and gear.

How many so far Col?

Seven Weeks ~~ Fact :P
-
So, who's heading over to the wild west ?
-
I'm in Micko, can wait, even looking forward to the nullabor drive, this will be the last one for me as there's no time left for my hobbies as the kids hobbies have taken over. Certainly not complaining tho as they grow up to quick and I don't want to mis any of it.
:)
-
I was having a conversation with a certain Supersenior today..about the Supersenior race.. so if it is as noted as Pre 78..you can ( as the rules are interpreted)..only run 75/76/77 year bikes in pre 78.. I know the intention of that class.. but don't run it by the person who I was having this discussion with today.. :P.. I reckon you can guess who I was talking to.. :-*
-
I can't guess who you are talking to ?? If you know what's intended what's the problem?
-
yep Col.. I know what is intended... sometimes people can only see what is written...rather than intended.. :'(
-
16.5.04 seems clear, if you are over 70 you can ride any bike that complies with Classic, latest machine 1977, or Post Classic any machine up to 1989.
If this presents a problem to the Supersenior you refer to, let's discuss it off forum. There's only a few of us.

What bike you riding in this class Col, your new 1977 aw400?
-
Either Twin Port CZ or Honda/Maico, whichever I decide to take, and what is your interest in this?
-
Another pre Nats shitfight brewing? I'm out.

Just a general question Col from a AW owner.
-
So who's coming. What are the possible figures from your state, Qld, NSW., Vis, SA and Tas
-
Me and the RH are coming
DT
-
use a container? and I gather it's the green beast
-
freight by the looks of it - going to bring a Suzuki 250 8)
-
not enough for a container
-
Good to hear Troy, looking forward to catching up with my cyber friends ????
-
unfortunately no - you have to give it to the WA guys in organising the trips east to the events here. Getting VMX guys to all sing from the same song sheet is akin to herding cats.
There are some who are making the journey by car - others like me freighting a bike over to ride - Queensland will be well represented.

From what I hear no one from Vic coming over

It is clear what the intention of the rule is, but does the term "All Powers" refer all capacities ie (125, 250 and 500s) or all classes. What would be better is to state for Classic Champs up to Pre 78 and for Post Classic Champs up to Pre 90.
In the MoMS there isn't a definition for the term All Powers.
-
From what I hear no one from Vic coming over
Any from nsw coming?
-
I've heard of 5 from SA with about 12 bikes, and a possible 2 from Vic, nothing from NSW at this point
-
Tossa, any contact details for the South Aussies. I might be in.
-
PM sent
-
Have sent you a message also pirie593
-
Anyone from the Eastern states who needs somewhere to store or deliver their bikes. I have plenty of room. I'm on the Southern edge of Perth. Just PM with any help you need
-
Are you trust worthy or must we do a back ground check on you would you mind sending us an updated photo :) thanks concerned vmx rider

for those in Qld chasing movement of their bikes to WA here is a quote we received today. Don't know if any better than you can do but thought we'd try and help. Awaiting other quotes, thanks Dennis Moloney

HI Denis
The best I can do is $400 qld to wa
Wa back to qld would be $300
-
Thanks very much for your help. We've abandoned the container plan, too many drop outs. We've lost 6 bikes through rider injury, and 2 through unexpected work commitment.
We have a better price than the $700 return, but really appreciate that offer.
At this point it's four riders driving over with 11 bikes, four flying and shipping 6 bikes.

Received an update from Southern capes MCC this morning and was informed that currently approximately 30 entries have been received. If you intend on competing at this year's Nationals the club would really appreciate your entry as soon as possible. The President of the VMXWA club has said that the sidecar class is looking like it will have good numbers at the event which, as usual, will provide a great spectacle for the spectators. Also if you are, or know of, any prospective sponsors the Souther capes club would love to hear from you! Looking forward to a great event, which will be upon us in only a few short weeks.
-
Is that 30 entries total ?
-
Is that 30 entries total ?
No entries close on 14th Aug :)

That is a pretty meagre return, take Col's eight Qlders out of the mix and that's 22 left including the locals. I know Perth is a long haul but WA has a squad at every nats no matter where they are so the tyranny of distance doesn't really stack up. Seems to be a demonstration of the apathy that has overtaken vmx over the last ten years : obviously with entries closing end of next week it's looking pretty grim but if the organising club get stitched up like Tassie did it sends a pretty clear message to all other clubs that the vmx community talk a good game but are regularly found wanting when it comes to show time.
It also means there is a shortfall of local entries which is a shame considering the calibre of entries already received for pre-78 Open. C'mon gang, get your entries in !
-
turn the pace maker down Glenn, VMX practicing at Jindong on Sunday. More people to enter yet, another 10 days
-
Nah turn up the volume GD.. !! rev em up..!! Come on guys get your entries in.. :P
-
Tossa, practice on Sunday. Does that include pre 78 ?
-
apparently not (I could be wrong) though the following week they are running a pre78 class in their club run on the SATURDAY (15th Sep) not Sunday. You could run your pre78 at our vinduro in farm paddocks just down the road at Chapman Hill this weekend, details on website
-
Why would the vmx club not include pre78 ? We're all racing on the same track in a few weeks anyway.
-
simple hey are pre75 club,
-
Silly me ????
-
vmxwa can get 30 to 40 riders to go to all the other nationals eastern states south Australia but now it is in our back garden we can't even make the same effort if you want to keep the sport you enjoy and love to excel weather you come first or last support the clubs making the effort without them we don't have a sport when its gone its to late get the entry's in and lets talk old school racing with like minded people ;) ;)

When we are going away.. you have to get your entrties in early (ish).. with all the other stuff going on to organise, flights vehicle containers etc.. now it is our own back yard .. the impression is you can take your time with the entries .. we do have all the other stuff going on here also.. a lot of people place a high emphasis on Wandering also..that has to be run and won also.. I expect a flood of entries in the last week before entries close..

Entries are coming in slowly. Currently around 50 so far. As usual the expectation is that there will be a last minute rush. Show your support for the Southwest Capes club, who have gone out on a limb to run the event, by getting them in now. By now you should all know if you are going to attend, and as Watto points out, we lead the the way as a state when it comes to our participation at events on the East coast. Come on guys, (and girls), get those entries in. Might be the only opportunity you get to ride at a national event. :D
See you all at Jindong this weekend!
Nick

How many do you think we need for the event to go ahead ?

Up to the hosting club and how much $$$ they want to pay out.

Hi all,
Hope the event goes ahead guys, I just entered five bikes for the nationals, hope the crew at southern cape can work out my entry form.
And can I order up "MUD" & lots of it please!

Just a quick confirmation is the age group racing all powers or classes in age group so one age group 40 to 49 all powers or age group 40 to 49 125cc race 250cc race open class race ???

It's all powers,not capacity ....us2 WA

they are actually listed as 125, 250, over263cc, not all powers. The only all powers age class is Super seniors

In previous years there has been age group by capacity.. tho in many of the age groups there aren't enough to run a class.. as you can imagine.. 60 and over 125cc wouldn't have enough entries to fill one hand.. but 50-59 250cc is quite full..
-
Thanks to the Southern Capes Club, we had a ride at Jindong yesterday.. about 10 showed up.. conditions were a little challenging.. but.. given that the track wasn't prepared in any way, it wasn't too bad.. after a good grading and maybe a couple of the jumps have the up-ramp altered .. it will be great.. Father's Day here we come.. ;)
-
bit damp Watto?
-
yep, no prep either but gave the guys a chance to look at the layout.
-
No Ross... it wasn't particularly damp.. we walked the track at about 9 am.. then rode till about 12.. sun was out the whole time.. then a few black clouds started appearing from the south west.. so we left.. it was also a 3 hour drive home too.. so good to get away "early".. The Mullet and his brother in law were there... :o
-
thanks Watto - the weather the previous night - plus the drive put me off - would of had to have left early early!!! 10 riders bit ordinary?
-
In previous years there has been age group by capacity.. tho in many of the age groups there aren't enough to run a class..
Supp regs indicate there are six competitors entered and competing required to run a championship class in pre-60, pre-65, pre-68 sidecar, pre-75 sidecar and Women. Other classes require 10 starters. In the case of insufficient entries, the class could be cancelled or combined with another, as per GCRs.
So more entries, more races and vice versa.
-
Only the really keen trophy hunters like Michael Gordon were there.. :-X.. others were just trying to make sure that limbs were working after their adventures from Narrogin..
-
BW, what is the track surface like at Jindong, compared to Narrogin ?
-
Yep that's right Watto, I took my works mechanic as well to work on bike set up and keep track of my lap times. He also ordered my Latte at the Dome before heading to the track.
-
GD, the track surface at Jindong is a mixture.. nothing like Narrogin. It was a gravel quarry in another life.. so there is a fair bit of loose gravel around.. the surface also has a bit of sand on the surface tho not much.. still going to run a soft terrain tyre.. but not a sand tyre..
