Title: Heaven VMX Pre90 Class
Post by: HeavenVMX on January 23, 2015, 09:36:19 pm
As we approach the 2015 season, and Heaven VMX members are considering new bikes or preparing existing bikes for the season, we thought it would be helpful to clarify in a simple summary, the eligibility criteria of the Pre90 class for Heaven VMX in 2015 and beyond.

The Pre90 classes in all Heaven VMX events, Motocross & Vinduro, will be open to all dirtbikes & modifications released as an 89 model or earlier, and built up to and including Dec 31, 1989. As an example, if the original model was released as an 89 model and built prior to Dec 31, 1989 with upside down forks & a rear disc brake, then it fine to be entered in a Heaven event as a Pre90 bike.

MOMS states:
16.15.14 Acceptable machines and components:
Pre 90 Solo
16.15.14.1 Acceptable for the pre 90 class are machines and components built up to and including the 1989 model. The only exception to this rule is where the model remains unaltered after this date.

From all reports, there are quite a few bikes being prepared for this class. We look forward to welcoming new members.

So 1990 models are OK?!
Or just a typo?

Also, just confirming that one race for all capacities, but scored separately?

Pre-90 or Pre-1990 means that eligible bike was built before 1st January 1990 or no later than 31st December 1989. It has been discussed here before. If you wish to ride in that class you need a suitable bike. If you dont have a suitable bike ride on your own in your own backyard.

1990 model bikes are built in 1989.
The usual rule is "made before 1990 and are designated 1989 models or earlier".

My main Pre-90 bike is an 88 model. The back-ups are both 89 models. I do not own a 1990 model anything. I was seeking clarification on what was intended (and suspect it was a typographical error).

It's a simple, easy to follow rule, PRE 1990. I'm surprised how many people get confused and turn up at race days on later models!

Initially until we get an idea of what numbers to expect, we plan to run the Pre90 class as an All in, with capacity classes scored separately. Going forward, the Pre90 class will be treated just as all the other classes are. The final schedule for the race meetings will depend on Pre-entries, and if the numbers warrant separating out any class, the schedule will be adjusted accordingly.

We'd like to expand on our comment above. If members have more than one Pre90 bike in another class, when the entry form for Canberra comes out, you will have the opportunity, right from the outset, to enter more than one Pre90 bike, and we invite you to do so. In planning the meeting's race schedule, the Pre90 riders will have the same opportunity to race that all the other class riders have, and that is if the number of pre-entries warrant it, we will run separate races, or at least run them with a similar class to give them a chance to ride the second bike. The commitment is to give riders of all classes an equal chance to ride/race their bike(s), and plan the meeting the best way we can do do so.
