11th & 12th- weekend of April

All "questions" in relation to the EVO eligibility rules for the upcoming Post Classic Nationals at Ravenswood, April 11 & 12 have been answered by the relevant controlling body, with the result being the current rules (MOMs) & current interpretation standing fast. BMCC will have supp regs & entry forms out in the very near future.
Get your bikes ready, get training & get ready for an awesome weekend of VMX at one of Australia's iconic MX tracks.
See you there.

We've dropped the abbreviation BMCC and now use Brisbane MCC. Too close to Ballarat Mothers Croquet Club.

What is the current interpretation?
Not being a smartarse, but there's a lot of confusion on this topic, including two MX commissioners posting different opinions... so simply saying "current interpretation" means nothing.

I respect and appreciate that you want to clear it up before the event, but there needs to be some explanation of what MA believes the rules to mean.

Pretty simple, basic EVO mantra, air cooled, drum brake, non linkage in the spirit of VMX. There's no confusion for this event, maybe next year if those who want the rules changed have them ratified, but it won't happen before this meeting. If you have an EVO bike which meets the above criteria, bring it along. End of story.

Mick I don't think it is simple, I want to know if I can run 43mm forks on my A5 that aren't off a Yamaha?

Big K  Did the information you based your post on come from the MA office, because if it didn't it is probably not official?

Again just my opinion

M.A have advised BMCC that there will be no rule changes before the April meeting, as for 2016 who knows? As always with a National, M.A will appoint an eligibility scrutineer, not our club. Said scrutineer will abide by the M.A interpretation, not mine or anyone else's. It can't be any clearer than that. I'm going to stop talking on this now, come or don't come, it's your money Ralph!

So most people seemed to understand that Evo bikes needed to be built our of parts from Evo bikes.
Some people understood that it was any drum brake forks, any air cooled motor, in any twin shock frame, providing those bits came from a Pre-85 or Pre-90 bike.
The Chair of the Commission, Mr David Tanner, has advised that a bike made from any age parts is OK providing it meets the three criteria.

So which is the "current interpretation"?

I can see that you want it to be simple, but it isn't. If you want your life to be simple, then you need official MA clarification (not an unofficial phone call or private message from Mr Tanner).

Trying to bury your head in the sand is likely to create a shitstorm. If you can get an official MA statement of where the line in the sand is, then it will be respected.

I have no vested interest in this: I sold my Evo bikes because I had the shits over the perpetual uncertainty.
But I am telling you that "just like always" is not going to save you drama - it's going to increase it.

I'll be there with my Pre-90 bikes.

If it turns to poop, it won't be because I sat back and said nothing.

I absolutely will not stir up any trouble.
Want to wager a six pack on whether there will be poop without any input from me?

I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure there's too many flared tempers and too many frustrated people for this to go off smoothly without prior clarification.

Which was why I bothered to post.

Best case is that I'm wrong.

I reckon that will a long time away Hilly, probably never. The original story was that it was not suspicious ( :o ), of course now, the amended story is that it was suspicious. It will be a long time in limbo for the Ravo pub.

Camping at track no problems, however I suspect room to camp will be at a premium. There are plenty of hotels, motels, caravan parks close by & one about 4 minutes from the track.

Anyone from QLD heading down to this event? Bit premature since my bike isn't complete (Head of Finance says I could possibly buy another...so am looking around for a cheap, but running anything) but am super keen on the trip down. Have a diesel van and likely to have just 1 bike in it. Share costs.

There are plenty of pubs, clubs, restaurants, bottle shops, grocery stores and even fuel stations in bendigo, which is only a 3 lap race away from the track at Ravenswood!
Crikey, the city of Bendigo has come a long way since the gold rush  :o

Will the club (or someone) start a facebook page for this Championships when the sup-regs are approved?

Also I think the name of this thread should be changes to Post Classic Aust Champs at Ravo or everyone should just use the thread that was originally made for it.

If you just wanted the date you should have looked at the thread that was already there. The date is in the name. Again the Championship is the Aust Post Classic MX Championships.

Just a reminder that as said above, the main thread for the 2015 Post Classix MX Nats is this one:

http://forum.ozvmx.com/index.php?topic=36467.0

Which is set as a 'sticky' under Competition.
