Does this help? Crm?
-
Yep, it's a CRM. Very loosely based on the 88 CR250, but apparently virtually nothing interchanges.
Grey import only, until the purple models from 98 or 99.

i know a bloke who has a new one in the shed gathering dust, its a 99. 500km, stock.

That would be a good thing for someone to put to use, why has it sat dorment for sooooo long? Did he buy it new or import it recently??

Thought the cre was one year only 500cc and only 250 made by / complied by cre engineering

The CRM's were popular in Japan. Saw one there at the beginning of the year and had to have a second look. Not everyday you see what looks like a CR riding in the traffic! CRM's are like the DT200 Yamaha, sold up as a race ready trail bike.
They only made it here as second hand grey imports (some via Bikebiz in Sydney). They were bringing them in in batches of 50 if I remember right. Wouldn't have been more then 100 all up via Bikebiz. They were also bringing in the CBR250 before Honda realised what they were missing out on.
Only CR's that I'm aware of the ended up with compliance plates were the last of the CR500's (CRE?) and if you can find one you'll pay more than what they cost from the Honda Dealer.
WMW 250 and 125's (these are gold if you can find one) Real CR's with head lights. I think they ranged from about 1988 (?) to about 1992 but I stand very corrected on the dates.

PB, I very recently discovered that WMWs ran until the late 90s, although their heyday was definitely 87-89.
The oldest WMW I've seen is an 84 250.

Yes. 1984 was when the WMW's first appeared. Complianced by Woody's MC's at Gosford NSW. They were indeed a CR with lights ;D

hmmm, better make that woody's m.cycles wyong,(WMG sorta dosen't have the same ring to it ;)) :P

;D ;D ;D ;D Yeah, I couldn't think think of EXACTLY where Woody's was but knew it was near Gosford somewhere. Maybe there's a market for a WMG?
