Title: Barrabool
Post by: ozktm151 on December 23, 2014, 09:38:36 pm
Has Barrabool ceased to exist or will there be a race meeting there in 2015?

Unfortunately it seems there are many others like you ozktm151 who are under the impression that it is closed down.

Yes, MA has decreed it will cease to exist at the end of next year - even though that doesn't need to happen!

Barrabool is alive and kicking in 2015 (but operating under strict limitations, e.g. most events will be club level events). The Sporting MCC hope to have the track open for business 2 days a week as usual.

If riders want to see it alive and kicking beyond 2015, tell MA to stop sacrificing Barrabool just to save face (not to mention killing a club) and give control back to the club who successfully ran it for 50 years without a problem!

Simple.

I'm keen to get down there for a race in 2015, modern or VMX.

How do I make it happen?

Nathan, you will need to keep an eye on the club calendar for events / dates.

Unfortunately . . . Waiting on MA to initiate this process - they are unusually slow this year. As a club we cant do anything until MA approve dates and submit to local shire.  This is already inconveniencing the clubs plans for 2015.

MA care factor seems to be non existent . .

Classic Dirt Three at Barabool,
with Brad Lackey  AND  Jim Pomeroy, this was the breakthru event for putting the 'Classic Dirts" into the next level of more fun and riding, and more interesting bikes and sideshows to see.
There was plenty of room to move compared to the initial CD's.
It was a special in even being at an iconic track.
