Steve
I think they run a rebound washer rather than a spring. Check your parts book. Frank Pons has some of the washers

1983 model don't use rebound springs. Use plastic top out washers on top of damper rod instead as hydraulic cushion.

My 500 forks work  fine  but  250   forks are  clunking when on full  extension from  rebound  ,( no excessive  pre load ) ,  New fork bushes &  dampening rod top out sealing washers fitted  on the 250 .
Both  bikes  forks have  the top out  springs  fitted to dampening rods  .?  ?

ive never seen them on a husky. check your washers again, some can fail in 1/2 and hour.

have you centered the damper rods before tightening the bottom bolts?

Lets see if Mr Rice Tack has rebound springs .

Hey Wasp,
why do you always feel the need to jump into a post with one of your smartarse shitfaced comments ??  if you really are as good as you tell everyone you are surely you could just reply with some helpful information. It would go a long way.   Peter  ::)
