I'd reckon you (with aid from 'The Institute') could do wonders with the stock cylinder Vladimir ;) after all this was only but 1 part of the kit package 8)
-
I tripped over a few B parts mate ;0
i still wouldnt mind that bore anyway just because it is what it is.
-
mmm..nice part alright but not sure if there's a substitute piston ??? the kit piston would be pretty rare I assume.
-
Guys,...its a ts 185.... ::) a little port work on the std bike and a REAL EXHAUST system make em fly well past the ability of the forks shocks and brakes
admire but remember this was the era of everyone trying to make trailbikes beat elsinores on the mx track ???

Nope, it's a GT550 1mm oversize stock Suzuki piston ;)
-
The cylinder liner is 2mm thicker than the ts185 standard, so after going 2mm oversize you are at standard bore for a ts185 and you can then bore out up to an additional 2mm ;D

As stated that barrell is a waste, modern pipe and ignition will do the trick,
Talking of hot TS185s how is Jens Ohlsen these days

I agree. Its a bit like finding a NOS RM125S bore or a Noguchi.
Modern tech applied to any domestic part will out perform period factory performance parts every time. But as a collector/restorer, to preserve something you have a passion for, that is something the individual has to value and isnt that what many of us do by playing with old machines? What its actually worth is only what someone is willing to pay for it despite the actual performance.
What makes it unique besides the porting is its cast with the numbers 173 not 183 and that makes it a rare item indeed to the 185aholic , quite desirable.

definately a part for the true TSMX connoisseur Pokey but as you said..unfortunately too pricey ;)
thanks for the GT550 piston/rings info CG..it's now embedded in the grey matter ;D
