which is best? single reed fingers like most standard reeds or one big petal like the v force?

It might possibly depend on the thickness reed material, one big petal seems stiffer to open than smaller ones.
Boyeson dual-stage have one big petal and small ones inside it.
On my 250, 400 & 500's I cut out the support ribs of the cage and run full-size carbon reed petals of .45mm for the 250's and .50mm for the 400/500.
I feel it improves the power all through the range on the bikes that I have done.

I put V-force reeds on my Husky and was shocked how much better than Boyson they were. They use smaller pedals (more of) than the boyson that were in it.

The design of the stuffer is the most important, the rest is down to cut and test. VF have better throttle response but cost 1hp across the range on a 125,but you would never know it. HRC reeds look basic but make very good HP. Testing combinations of petal thickness and stops has got us back 1hp andkept the throttle response. No hard and fast answer as a general guide bigger engines like thicker petal.

ok so for a yz125h, full size carbon petals, thinner than .45mm seems like the go. Where to buy from guys? thanks.

I have a NOS OW intake manifold from 1973, the cage is bigger and ported but the interesting thing is the design of the rubber intake has a built in stuffer as std.....those factory boy's where way ahead of production [this is to suit the 1973 OW 250 that won Yamaha's first MX world championship]. ;)

For my 125 cut reed in half to make two fingers. Used .33 Polini carbon fibre reeds from P and M Tuning in the UK. Outstanding results
