Title: User names
Post by: FAT-TOY on November 20, 2014, 10:37:54 pm

While I was having a look through the forum tonight I noticed a couple of unusual user names and wondered where they came from.  Most members seem to use a nick name or their own name or maybe a name they wish was theirs. Others use race numbers or their favourite brand of bike or a mixture of 2 or more of them.  Then there are others that I have trouble trying to workout where they might have evolved from.
Mine started as a play on words a few years ago when I used to make and sell personalised gear shifter connecting rods for Harleys and on mine fatboy became fat-toy.  I might be a bit nosey but I would be interested in the origins of some of the more unusual user names.

Tim754 -  short for mental time-bomb with 7.54 second count down. Or how about the 754th failure named Tim born in 1957, or perhaps My name is Tim Derrick and I own a rough old Honda CB750/4 K series powered VMX sidecar. ;)

From the old usenet days. Rec.Motorcycle.Dirt actually. Everything was anonymous on there and I needed a catchy user name. TooFastTim was catchy and I've stuck with it for over twenty years. In no ways does it reflect my ability on an off-road bike  8)

'The Doctor' tag was given to me 30+ years ago by all my friends due to my constant meddling..it stuck ever since albeit in it's shortened form Doc ;) I didn't mind cause at the time the Dutch Dentist Suzukis' Gerrit Wolsink was also nicnamed the Doctor...actually thought it a bit of a compliment ;D

most people call me pokey. Its Shane  when i havnt got my superman undies on

i can be a slow poke
or if im in the mood I can give it a bit of poke
the main reasoning for my nomenclature is I'm never scared to try anything and have the scars to prove it

 if in doubt
poke it first
