Interesting it's in the US but he did ride Suzuki in 1981 over there,so could be possible

Wasn't he on the Yamaha YZ465 for 1980-81?
-
the tag motomike...leads me to believe its "Arizona Mike" selling that. He is one of the biggest bull shitter's in the world (BBSITW) to everyone else.
I could be wrong but if im not, the chance of that being Marty's bike is the cube root of Zero!.
-
No suzuki in 1981 mate yamaha in 1980
-
Interesting looking carb
-
Arizona Mike lives in New River Arizona. If the ad is true, bike is in California. I just spoke to Keith Lynas, who was a good friend of Marty's and he said "I suppose it could be...he rode a few of them....at this time he was doing R&D for Suzuki and racing too....is it this machine?" "the more I look the more I see.....brake stay arm, the silender does not fit, mounted poorly....and all the plastic....Marty would never have used Acerbis!!!. The ebay machine has a bent subframe, different bars, throttle etc. Course that could have been changed later. Oh yeah, don't get me started about "Arizona Mike" !!

Interesting looking carb
yeah i saw that too. looks BIG is it a ring a ding Bing?
-
Nope it is not Bing.. bowl area looks Mikuni.. but certainly is tall to the to of the slide area..and looks simple too.. not many brass bist sticking in /out the sides..
-
Usually production carbs will have the manufacturer's name cast into the body, but this one looks like a clean skin. Could have come from the factory workshop if it is Moates bike.
-
1981 must be a popular year. This RM465 is going for $12,000,00 at Xtreme motorbikes here in Perth.. https://www.xtrememotorbikes.com.au/products/dirt-bikes/suzuki-rm250-1983-wintage/

:oamazing
-
Nice resto ....comes with bent fins thrown in at no extra cost
-
you know what it takes to bend fins like that :o...its hard work! usually involves a plaster cast as well!!

Its got a name cast in under the idles screw but its hard to make it out on my tablet.
The sprocket cover boss has been broken off as well

It's a mikuni and possibly the original carby, the RM400T also came out with the same type of mikuni.
I doubt if it's Moates bike, he used aftermarket single sided airbox and would've had a trick pipe also..
-
It does look like a non standard pipe.
-
I just asked him to explain the Moates connection.
-
This was the ebay sellers reply ..... "Bought from Brad Lackey and was told that is a former Moates bike. He will give a statemant of facts. Both Lackey and Moates are/were friends. No BS Mike Tillman".
