At Bendigo Ravenswood just up the road from BigK.
Not my fav track but the club there is strong and puts on a great event. Shame the pub across the road burned down.
-
Slackwell Do you think you could change the name of this post to
"Post Classic Nats 11-12 April"
The Australian Post Classic Motocross Championships are on the 2015 MA National Calendar at Ravenswood on 11 & 12 April.
This is just the Post Classic (not the Classic MX Champs)
To my knowledge no one has applied for the Classic MX Champs (or the Classic DT Champs)
YET!!!!!
-
Done Kev
-
Are you going Mick?
-
Yes I will Ted unless some shits happens that I don't know about yet.
-
4 months out ...come on guys promote this event and tell ya mates..this is Victoria...lets get this rollin :)
-
for those not in the know where is the track? And please don't tell me Ravenswood, Bendigo ;D
-
The track is in central Victoria at Ravenswood, postcode 3453. It is right on the Calder Highway, 20 minutes from the Bendigo CBD, 1.5 hours from Melbourne CBD & 6 minutes from my house. The track has some nice undulations (partly on the side of a hill) & is mostly granite sand. It also has one of the best start straights & first corner in the land, wide, fast & flowing. Hope this answers your question Ross.
K
-
Is there any problem running a 77 yz 250 in evo . Iain
-
its a great track when prepped for old bikes, as Big K said it certainly does have one of the fastest start straights and first corner which makes for exciting racing for riders and spectators alike. its a classic track that is oldest continually running MX track in Vic and maybe even Oz.
can you do a one day licence at this event ?
-
No problems whatsoever Iain. Hope to see you there.
K
-
thanks BigK we are coming over for BBB so why not . most probably won't got the yzh 250 finished so might as well wobble round on the pre78 's . Iain
-
There is a special one day event license for Nationals Hoony, so the answer is yes.
K
-
looking forward to it bringing a crew from the mid north coast BBB the nationals
-
thanks K ;D
-
There is a special one day event license for Nationals Hoony, so the answer is yes.
K
Just remember that it needs to be done weeks in advance. The one event National licence is NOT like a club day licence: you cannot purchase it on the day.
-
Thanks Nathan, i appreciate the heads up
-
What classes are run at this event?
-
Accommodation book so it looks like I've got to go now any one got yz 250 w for sale
-
What classes are run at this event?
John I think but could be wrong Evo, pre85 and pre90 of various sizes and ages groups
-
Correct and don't forget there may be sidecars also!
-
This is just my opinion from what I know. The classes & age groups should be the same as this year per the MOMS. The only addition might be a Pre 90 four stroke class. However the CMX/DT minutes say that the Pre 90 four stroke class is being introduced on a trial basis, so it may not be a championship and may not have to be included.
A National One Meeting licence must be applied for to the riders own SCB 21 days before the meeting.
Is there camping at the track and what facilities are there?
-
Plenty of camping space at Big K's ;)
Full workshop facilities, abundance of spares available (paid for in euro only), bike/trailer storage, free beer & BBQ every night ;)
Offer only open to Husky riders born in Sweden, cant speak english, accompanied by several young hot Swedish groupies (virgins of course)
22 Nordic Lane
North Bendigo
;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Counts you out for my place Steve unless you embrace your heritage.
Classes will be as per MOMs, EVO classes are the only ones with age groups, I doubt there'll be a pre '90 4t class. Camping at the track which has toilets but no showers.
K
-
Week before my birthday, I'll be there. Don't have to be virgins but must be gentle
-
Sorry, Swedish Hard Steel only, no soft German stuff allowed ;) ;) ;)
-

Thank you Big K. A straight forward answer.
-
I hear that the sup regs are almost out.
-
Fantastic
-
Already booked my holidays
-
Week before my birthday, I'll be there. Don't have to be virgins but must be gentle
So does this mean you just missed out on going up an age group?
-
No I've already reached the pinnacle
Hoping some one will give me a Twin Port 360 for my birthday
-
You're quite the optimist
-
Six weeks out.........any news on Supplementary Regulations Dave ?
-
I just had a look on MA's site, nothing yet , Are you lot coming over from the west? :)
-

Sweet.. 8)
Anyone able to shed light on the track ~~ similar to Crystal Brook SA dirt ??
cheers Auntie A :)
-
The track is very undulating, mostly granite sand with some clay sections & topsoil added here & there. One of the longest, fastest start straights in the land.
K
-
just to add my bit to that - Im going as much for the track as anything else. It has to be one of the best in Australia, its fast, its technical and Vintage friendly. This will be my 3rd Nationals on the track and I cant say enough about the place. Im taking my A4 again, happy to race it out for second last if I have to - cant wait.
211
PS regs will be out any day...........
-
maps says 118km N from Melbourne airport..
How far south is it from Bendigo ??
cheers
-
10 mins by car or 30 mins by ambulance ;D ;D ;D
-
30 mins by ambulance ;D ;D ;D
Been there, done that in 1992 ;)
-
1 hour 15 min drive from the airport to Ravo at the speed limit.
K
-
No Regs surely this will reflect on numbers that enter, due to late information etc
-
They said they would be out by COB tomorrow ;)
-
Apologies I was reading the date Big K quoted
cheers

-
No mention of race lengths? I guess we will be told at riders briefing :)
-
No mention of transponders. Using them or not? Or are they free?
-
No need, they are 1 lap sprints ;D ;D ;D
21. CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The circuit is a 1.7km undulating track
-
Entered. Don't care how many laps, I'll stop at the checkered flag or when I'm knackered, whichever comes sooner.
-
Transponders will be used with the cost built into the entry fee. 3 rounds of 4 lap races.
*** The email address on the entry form is incorrect, the correct email address is as below:
[email protected]
K
-
My understanding, not official. 4 laps, transponders included in entry. Email address shown on entry should be [email protected]
-
Sorry BigK our posts crossed
-
Entered. Broke the news to wife. Still alive. Must be a good omen. Only a short drive from Gold Coast to Bendigo right?
-
1,673.5 km via Pacific Hwy and M31, 1647.5 via A39 and New England, either way a mere jaunt.
-
Thanks Wasp, but you're preaching to the converted.Entry in.
-
Pacific highway is a nicer drive, just a small pain & a few tolls getting through Sydney. Travelled both ways to the Masters games (up & back), time was about the same. Inland roads aren't as good and there were more trucks to negotiate.
K
-
Pacific an easier tow route. Doing it fortnightly at the moment. Rosco86
-
Adelaide's own Bear Grylls ;D
-
The pacific hwy must have seen some major upgrades since I was doing the run weekly. It used to have real crappy single lane sections and reduced speed limits for what seemed no reason at all. And there were regular fatalities that would close the hwy for a few hours. I used to enjoy the time when I could do the new england hwy for a much more relaxed drive.
Which ever way you choose to go, travel safe and enjoy the drive.
-
There is nothing on the entry about a one event licence i was going to send in entry but not sure what to do re licence any ideas ????
-

Andy you'll have to apply for one via MA or MVA, sooner rather than later...
keep it pinned on the track :P :D
-
Thanks Alison and you know i will lol
-
You have to apply through your SCB not MA. It is a National One Meeting Licence not one event. It is in the supp-regs.
-
Ahhh yes there it is better get a move on
-
3 rounds of 4 lap races.
K
Thanks for the info K :)
-
Great license done entry being faxed in the morning :) :)
-
Are the age classes an automatic or do I have to enter and pay the fee for those as well?
-
I wasn't sure either brad so I just entered age, couldn't find any explanation on it...
-
Same same, but I entered the age as a separate class so an extra $25 ???
Best we wait to hear back from the organisers that either Ive paid too much or you havent paid not enough :o
-
It's not that hard, age groups are separate classes so is an extra class fee. 1 class $135, 2 classes $160, 3 classes $185 & so on.
K
-
Yeah all sorted spoke with Canobie today and entered a few more classes! Better than sitting around all day waiting for your race ;D

I thought it was that way at the last nationals and that is why I asked.
-
how are the entries looking?

Entries close last mail Monday 30th March..

Anyone wanting to get a look at the track, Bendigo Motorcycle Club are holding an open practice day this coming Sunday 29th. If you are not a member you will be required to join the club, $50 which is for a full membership (no day memberships) & $40 to ride. If you don't have a race license you will also need a one recreation license $25. Sign in at 8:30, on the track at 10:00am. Depending on numbers they will run 20 minute sessions, usually odds, evens & juniors.
Entries for the Post Classic Nationals are rolling in, albeit a tad slow. No doubt this week will be a big week for them. Entries close, last mail Monday 30th.
K
-
Hope you get good numbers, should be a great meet
-
So what are the figures?
-
I was told by a fellow Bendigo Club member at Sunday's practise day (on the 29th, entries close 30th) that they had 43 entries, and they were going to run no matter how many they had.
-
I was told by a fellow Bendigo Club member at Sunday's practise day (on the 29th, entries close 30th) that they had 43 entries, and they were going to run no matter how many they had.
I honestly thought there would be a lot more
-
The numbers are climbing but still below expectations, as a result late entries are now being accepted. Contact Todd Canobie, his details are on the entry form.
K
-
im going to let the moths out of the wallet and buy a new set of tyres for the event, ...... is the track loam , hard pack , wet , dry.. any suggestions mick??
-
The track is mostly granite sand, which will be soft & grippy in most places. There are a couple of clay area's but not much. I use intermediates on everything but if you are buying tyres just for this event, soft terrain would be correct.
K
-
This may sound like a dumb question but after you get your bikes scrutineered at a title event do they have to remain at the track for the duration of the meeting, IE:I am not camping at the track but plan on going through the friday arvo bike check :)
-
That's not a problem.
-
Best of luck to our West Aussie rider, may you travel safe and return home with an armful 8)

I'd like to know which classes are championship classes please.
-
Pre-90 125,
Pre-90 250,
Evo 250 50~59 years
definitely are.
I believe most of the other era/capacity classes have made championship status, not so hopeful for the Evo age races.
-
Championship classes are:
Pre '85 250cc
Pre '85 263+cc
Evolution 250cc
Evolution 250cc 50-59
Evolution 263+cc
Pre '90 125cc
Pre '90 250cc
There are a couple that are really close to having enough & may have by the event: Pre '90 263+cc & Evolution 263+cc 50-59.
Some of the age group classes have had to be combined to make a race but will be scored separately.
The program has 20 events per round & it looks like it will be practice plus 1 & 1/2 rounds Saturday & Sunday.
The track is groomed to perfection & should be Ravenswood at its best.
Cheers,
K

Walked the track today, looks great

Gee Collin are you trying to make those of us that work for a living feel bad or just letting everyone now how good the track is?

If there is anyone who will be attending the nationals this weekend and is able to take high quality pictures of the event for VMX magazines next issue, would be very much appreciated . Ken was planning on attending however his father passed away on monday. Alister is in the US at the moment as well. And a report on the event by anybody as well would also be great.
My condolences to Ken and his family at this time
-
Anyone on here know Brett Meehan? We have his direct deposit payment confirmation but no entry form. If so please get him to contact myself 0417394889 or Todd Canobie 0417320623.
Cheers,
K
-
MA or even MV should be able to find contact details on their data base. They may not pass them on but could maybe send a message. Get your licenced Race Secretary to ask.

Just wanted to take the opportunity to thank BMCC - all of them - for the great weekend. A better bunch you will never meet a better track you will not find. On that, the track was great and although a tad wet on the Saturday we all had the same dirt to ride but it has to be noted that BMCC paid $$$$ for every drop of that water and no one will have a dirty air filter to speak of. Its a huge commitment and thats just an example of the effort that BMCC took on regardless of the numbers and turned the Australian Post Classic Championships into the event it should be - great competition - great track - shared with great friends.
Thanks to you all.
DT
-
Have to say a big thanks to the bmcc for a top weekend, and to everyone that made this event possible, a big thank you, great people great racing and vmx is still alive and well, even if the numbers were down, all of those that raced here sure had a ball, sunday the track was in supreme condition loamy, tacky, couldnt have asked for better conditions, weather was perfect, heres a photo of team Kawasaki,s dt and i trying to hunt down Lucas on his honda cr250 cheers Bear

yep! big holes there too - problem is the brain thinks it can do it the bike and my ability tell me the truth.... still laughing about that one.
-
All weekend I have been watching video`s of this meeting and talking with some riders, even with the numbers down, everybody had a great time, and I feel that it will take off in a good way, and become much larger. The track looked great, BMCC have prepped the track well, I can also see another Australian Vintage Title held there in the near future.
-
Thanks DT , The A4 looks fast , but you have always got out the gate well. Give me a ring soon as that A4 125 is needing a new home soonish.
-
DT good footage, looks like you need a honda motor off the start line.
Hows the Black bike re build going?
Mike
-
Mike - all but Mate, been a long thing to finish.
-
What a fantastic weekend. Brilliant weather, great track, well organized and great racing. Those that chose not to attend missed out big time. Congratulations to the new Aussie Tiltle Holders and a big shout out to the BMCC for a top weekend.
-
Gotta love the positivity that runs through this thread!! This is exactly what his sport needs. Good on everyone who contributed to make the post classic nats the success it obviously was, (doesn't have to be huge to be successful). Viva le Nationals!!

The brain and KX were in gear for the starts DT..... The only problems were when you had to turn or jump ;D ;D ;D Still, it didn't stop you from you wearing a big cheesy grin all weekend, even while you were fixing the clutch before you got to race.

even some western Hill-Billys managed to get their camel train across the desert to attend.... Shalom
Only took my bro a good hour to drive me and Dad to Ravo.. ;)
I got talking to Oz MX Champion John Armstrong at the track... JA to his mates... and he said his first race at RAVO was like.. 1950 something but the tracks been used since as far back as 1926... Now JA is like 88years young so these details can become clouded but 1926??? Were they racing Camels??? I was touched with the historical significance.. Possibly oldest operational track in the whole universe !!!! Is there any confirmation for this ???
JA was in the pits his son young Gary who came down and touched up the locals... on the track!!!! Glad I wasn't in that class....
Vanberslow made it down!!! He was all over it... making us look slow and weak... I hate it when he gets all the laughs...
I suffered embarrassment when holeshot in moto2 of pre90 125 by the red 110h my god I wish he stayed in Qld who came to the line on his EVO after his pre90 yammy broke.... white puss... I chased and passed him back on my red rocket to win the moto which felt good... untill i hear his shock bolt fell out ... making it more like 110h crap!!!! Sweet victory tasted kinda like... Coke Zero though.... his double misfortune boosted me up the leader board... & after the yellow 150 stepped aside .... I dunno what happened there... Old mate blew my boot savers off moto 1... then struggled with mechanicals .. yellow puss.. he ended in hospital with some shoulder dislocation or similar issue after moto3.... At which point I became Aussie Champ!!!
My Bradbury moment.... Magnificent
Bendigo Club!!! I definitely couldn't have done it without your group effort which I grade 10 out of 10 and thank all involved with planning and conducting the event which tested our technical riding skills on sat but allowed us to hang the balls out a bit on sunday which always feels good and lets face it.... its always more fun with exposed gonads ... Right??? ***crickets****
My Bro and Dad both helped and enjoyed my success
Thanks to all who entered races on the weekend and' in your face' to those who didn't..... You could have had a crack but now have to suffer in your jocks.. knowing you missed a bunch of fun!!!

Ah! TanMan!!! ;D That helmet footage was insane.... we shared a few motos and.. well my red was in front of your green ... so I could see how close Mr Reynolds and I got in T1 moto2 EVO 250.... He filled me in T1 moto1 couldn't get a tear off for like 3 corners....
-
Haha pisser Devilman .

After hearing about the Marvel from Mexico we built a bike to see if we could compete against the best. Off to QMP we go in 2013 and he isn't there. Off to Echo Valley in 2014 and he isn't there either. No problem, off to Port Augusta we go in late 2014 to race him. Seeing as it is way closer for him than us, we assume he will turn up. Still a no show. Not once did us northern deadbeats question your commitment. Unlike yourself.
We've moved on from insurance company pseudo 6 minute title races and came up with a race series right up your alley. 3 x 15 minute ( guaranteed ) motos with a $1,000 to the winner. 2015 Maxima Racing Oils Conondale Classic. Conondale QLD 8th / 9th AUGUST. The money is there. Will you be?

Good to hear your home safe Champ... Thanks for coming.... No dramas on the homeward leg?? hammy cramps??? always the worst after a coupla days of race action... theres nowhere to stretch it out in the car.. specially if your driving right
I wish that track was closer. I'd ride the crap out of it. My main problem was my hands and forearms. The trip home was very uneventful, thank f$&k. Drove straight through, 530 am till 130 am.

gdr it was not what you think... It was a 3 day museum challenge punctuated with 10%Alcvol beer made by monks and much vomit... friendships were strained.... and the fricken cyclists mopeds trams cobbled roads made for a bunch of close calls just getting to a museum.... I pulled out after the first museum

You're a deadset legend Nick. Shame I didn't really get to catch up with you other than to say g'day and good to see you out! You must of been well behaved after dark which isn't your usual style ;)
Your facts about the Ravo track are spot on mate. I was talking with the club El'presidente' later on Sat night and he told us all how close the venue was to collapsing when the council decided it was time to close the track as the 10 year lease was up......so he filled the pen pushers in on the history of Ravenswod. Seems even the council weren't aware of the historical significance of the place.
The first scramble event was indeed in 1926. On what I don't know..... more likely to be jumbumcks than camels....then there was a bit of a break for reasons that escape me now (read, staying in the club house til 3am) and the place then really came alive in the 50's. They even had a dedicated bus that would ferry spectators from Bendigo in their Sunday best out to watch the men and their magnificent machines get bruised, broken and battered, then drive them all back again. Scrambling was a big deal to the district back then. The venue has been going non stop since. And the council agreed in all their wisdom that the place was indeed special to the area and low and behold, the joint may stay open......

Hey Teddles, you stood me up, I thought we had a "date" in the pits. Raincheck?

my bro is a legend... Old mate left me nothing to do but make my own sandwich at lunch time.... he had my spy goggles hooking up.. my Michelin tyres gave me great vision all day... they provided me the edge I needed to be in a position to benefit from the bad luck of others.... yes sir that coke zero is poor tasting beverage :o

ditto to that. what a great track. pretty technical on Sat. with all the water, but I suspect it wouldn't have been as terrific on sunday with out all the water ..
Amazing what can be done on the side on of a very dry hill, albeit historically significant one!

When did it last rain down there? We'd just gone nearly ten weeks without rain, but the grass up here was looking great in comparison...

We finally had some rain yesterday and last night. It's been a long time without any decent rain. The last decent drop was in late January if my memory serves me right.
