The 82 CR250/480 came out with KYB forks, the other years thru the 80's had Showa

what about works bikes with kyb in the 80's , or did kyb make billet forks for the disc brake eg 84 model that private teams could buy

The works Hondas in the 80's used Showa factory forks.. Honda owns Showa
I don't think Kyb or Showa sold works forks to private teams

Some 1980's model CR125's ran KYB forks, 84-86 at least and perhaps even earlier,87 on had Showa, Dunno about the works bikes though, I think they would of had Showas as the others have said, C'mon put us out of our misery, Have you found some HRC goodies or buiding a replica etc :)

KYB made a 38mm limited production factory fork in the late 70's that was available to anyone with cash. Aftermarket companies like DG sold them

these kyb forks are 43 mm with disc brake mounting points and disc cover mounting points ,they are alloy not mag i know most of honda showa's were mag , have seen a set of the kyb 38mm factory  forks Johnny0 and they look a bit like them , they are quite expensive, so i hope they fit , but ive been looking fo a long time for hrc factory forks or fox forks to fit the 84  with no luck so the kyb's will do

I'm servicing 3 pairs of works KYB forks at the moment from 82-84 SR Kawasakis and they look much like you've described
