Title: NOT VMX Hoyosung GT650 any good ???
Post by: Mick D on October 21, 2014, 08:12:57 pm
Don't have a lot of money, but love V-twins
Have been gob smacked for a while just how cheap these things are when they are only a couple of years old.
I think some one said they have Suzuki SV engines, which if so? that is a good thing in my book.

Does anyone know a non sarcastic reason why I should not buy one?

Thx if anyone can advise.

Don't know about them Mick, but if you go and have a look at it, swipe your eftpos card past it and see if it spits out any coin. Hyosung make ATM machines.

They aren't a bad thing. Sold a carby one recently with no complaints from the buyer. The injected ones  are easy to live with and don't seem to have any generic faults. Like a Hyundai - the early stuff was pretty basic but the current product isn't nasty!.

Suspensions not much chop and the pads need to be changed to get feel from the brakes. The rest is fine, never see them broken down on the side of the road.

I got a 250x4  for my 16 y/old to ride to school etc. it seems to be really good bike no hassles what so ever. it is fuel injected ,starts on the button and runs sweet..
It was latest model and new so i would expect it .

I sold hundreds of them over 10 years, they are based on the SV but have many differences including bore x stroke
I have one new one left cheap

There are some mixed feelings about the earlier ones if you dig around some of the road bike forums. Mostly praise for the fuel injected, later ones though.

They aren't exactly identical to the SV650 as SON points out, but very similar concept. I had an SV650S and it was a terrific road bike, and if I was looking for something similar on a budget I'd consider one.

OK,,,, you guys, thanks for the heads up on a lot I didn't know  8)
From what you have told me it will a be fuel injected 650 or nothing, thanks.
I think suspension is one of the most important functions of any bike, thx for the caution Lozza.
There seems to be a hell of a lot of these about, so I imagine there would plenty of after market medicine
  available when needed.

Thanks Son, trouble is a limited budget. Have to save some money for the TBC :) :)
There is one down the road from you 2o13 model, Looks in new condition,
low Ks and he is looking for offers less than $5K ride away. I will drop in or call you though, thanks.

Why the bloody hell would ya buy a Hyosung, name is enough to make ay true blue aussie puke, even while sober,,,,

Drove around the Newcastle beaches on Saturday, Sunday for an hour looking for a park, come home without getting out of the car. Parking cops everywhere and only legal unoccupied spaces are for motorcycles only and lots of em  8)

Save heaps of money, because I wont have to insure it, Who The F is gunna steal a Hyosung, only brand not on the Aussie Stolen Vehicle Register ;D ;D ;D ;D 8)

Imagine the local Sargent in arms saying to the aspiring noms, Piss off and don't come back until you have got a new Hyosung parts bike for us,,Phissssh,, aint going to happen is it ::) ::) ::)

I noticed the headlight rim wasn't mounted  in its shell properly,Huuummmmmmm
First night of ownership, traveling the grahams town dam road(less skippys to land in your face).
No streetlights, pitch black, cruising a 100+ the headlight blows out, Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar-out

I honestly thought damit jannet, gunna die :o
waited for a cars and followed them ::)

A new bulb, without touching it ::) and reassembled the headlight structure the correct way.
Now it all sits together neat.

Tell me Mick what are those HyoZukis like to ride?

Well they are not the built quality of the Zukis that's for sure, but neither was the price :)
Lots of things need tidying up and setting up.
Starting to dial it to my preferences.

Front brake is still noisy, but brakes are sensational :) great fun to control with the front while locking the rear into a slide.
Suspension is very ordinary but haven't played with it yet.
Engine is as sweet as.

I know your not the Hyosung dealer any more and needed this last one gone,,,but,,
I can hardly believe the amount of new 650 V-Twin I got for $6k ride away with 12months rego, helmet and gloves.
I would have bought the new DR650 beside it, if it was a different colour. $6250 for it ride away cheap new DR650.
But really happy to have a dedicated roadie instead. So light and easy to throw around.

I hate getting off it,,and accept it for what it is. I love sorting a bike. It will be a much different ride when dialed and sorted.
Thank you very much SON.

The plan works.
Heat wave. So drop everything and head for the ocean, but every man n his dog has the same Idea. Not a legal car park within Cooee plus a mile :-[ in an area blanketed with revenue raising brown bombers.
Unless you have a bike, check out the TS125J Duster ;D
And no cars are game or stoopid enough to park in the bike slots ;D

I should have got a better pic of the TS,,,,

The biggest problem that I have noticed..especially living in newcastle, with this brand of bike and all other small capacity cheap korean and malaysian bikes is build quality..im yet to see one a daily rider older then 2 yrs with no rust ...poor plating and painting went for a ride with one on rg250 my forks were perfect his needed to  be replaced due to pitting..and the rg is 30yr older..built down to a price..not up to a standard.!!

Glad you are happy with it I have seen plenty about lately.

Personally I don't really care about not having a new bike and the amount of good second hand roadbikes that are about so cheap there is something for every one I have got a tl1000r I got for $4k a lot of bike for the money. ;)

A mate from work recently sold his second hand hoyosung. He didn't say much until it was sold. He sold it through a shop on consignment as he said the bike had intermittent electrical issues and did not want to sell it himself. I was surprised as the bike looked quite good. he also said he would never buy another Hoyo...

My front wheel does like to come up but it likes to bust the rear loose a lot as well.

I am interested to see if you see many hyosungs about in 5-10 years that will be the true test but even if it did fall to pieces after that much time you haven't had the massive depreciation you get on one of the main makes once you wheel it out the shop.
