The inaugural Beaufort Vinduro will be held on the weekend of November 8-9.
This will be a long one – 120 kms in total, made up of 4 x 30 km sections. There’ll be a fuel dump at the half way mark. The route is not hard; all tracks are navigable by 4WD, except for a part that cuts through part of a pine plantation. It will test your concentration and bike stamina! There’ll be ‘escape’ routes back to the start after the end of the four sections, so you’ll never be more than a 15 km trip back!
There’ll be a practise track available on Saturday afternoon, with the proper event held on Sunday.
Entry form and UVP application form will be sent out to our mailing list soon, and made available on the VERi website ASAP.
A big thank you to Engineered Environments and Discount Motorcycle Wreckers who have jumped in early as event sponsors.
Keep checking this thread and the VERi website for updates.

Im exited! Will they be checking lights and horn for this one??
-
Yes Curtis, they will be scruted.
-
The committee is working on obtaining permission for riders to use rec-reg bikes and hopefully that will be settled in the next couple of weeks, so don't close off the option of attending what will be a great ride!
-
It seems that the scenery around the Beaufort course is pretty spectacular with several elevated points of 360 degree views of the surrounding area. Hopefully not too distracting though - those climbs will likely involve some descents as well!
The first loop will see the Euro bike riders feeling right at home with snaking trails and climbs through mature pine plantations, undulating trails and long climbs cleared of stubble and rubble. It will be a blast. :D
Saturday afternoon from 12-4:00 the grass track special test area is all set for you to blow the cobwebs out of your mufflers and sort out the jetting (there will be some fast stuff on Sunday), and to help you to get into touch with your inner Malcolm Smith, Ted Goddard or whichever enduro deity you are trying to emulate.
Remember that the area is also a tourist region (as well as a great place to ride a dirt bikes!) so any non-riding hangers-on can find amusement out and about while you ride. Any style of accommodation will be catered for in the area, but if you want to camp at the Parc Ferme then basic facilities are available. Basic breakfast fare will be available and maybe also lunch.
VERi will be having a 'doorprize' of a free future event entry (hopefully you'll be looking to ride again next year!) to be drawn at the conclusion of the day. This is going to be a classy and classic event!!
More updates to follow.
-
Don't forget to bring your membership card too - we'll use them at the prize draw and also to figure out if anyone needs rescuing at the end of the day!

Stop Press
Rec. Rego now approved for the Beaufort Vinduro
The roads and trails around this event have been approved for Rec Rego in areas where it is not normally allowed, the hardworking committee (I wasn't involved) have Liaisoned with Vicroads for an exemption which will include the escape roads back to base if so required.
-
that's pretty handy ;D
-
Yeah, how goods this! The final VERi event for this season is shaping up to be a beaut! VERi isn't afraid to try novel events outside the pale to enhance the riding experience for participants. Bikes weren't beige in the day so why should the ride be! :)
-
Don't forget to check your mufflers as well as lighting.
-
whats a muffler ::)

Unfounded rumour mongering! The mighty BM was more up to the task than the rider- the learner youngster that the bike was levered from exhibits finer motor skills than the flapping carcass that adorned the bike at Harrow. If you read closely between the lines you might detect some disgruntlement from the sponsor.............

http://www.visitpyrenees.com.au/events/e/beaufort-vinduro
There seems to be a bit of local interest in this event, which is good. As mentioned already, there will be camping at the Raglan Reserve, but there are other more comfortable options in and around Beaufort too, there are a few suggestions on the VERi website. Beaufort has a couple of pubs and some cafes, and there are wineries around too if you're so inclined... Very genteel!

Hark!
Thou does hear the sounds of crickets chirping.
Am I the only one gullible desperate talented enough to take up such offers?
It's a great fun bike to ride, it revs to the moon it has heaps of torque and loves to be short shifted and will drag you up hills effortlessly (so long as your not in a hurry)
Just don't wear you best gloves as you will get grease on them when you have to put the chain back on.
-
It's looking a little like Team Penrite might be traveling to Beaufort! A couple more blue bikes in parc ferme.
Seems Mark and I will be staying at the Clayton Street Hilton in Ballarat. Thanks Mum and Dad!
Looking forward to catching up with some of the Harrow fraternity and blasting through the Raglan forrest.

Well, if you weren't keen on the BMW I have this for you. This was a co-operative project with GMC.....he said he was the KDX expert so I gave him a big pile of KDX parts and....this is what I got back! I think I like it better than a KDX, but not sure how he got to this? Anyways, don't say we aren't trying to help! 8)

I think you will have to lower it for me its to tall!

Its OK Steve, the seat and handlebars can be raised or lowered to suit. Its a VERi versatile vinduro mount.

enough merriment! can I ride a non regoed bike on the Saturday??? is the grasstrack on PP?? I might bring the mighty 510 down for a blast (demonstration lap)
-
Geez , if you let Frank loose on the 510 , I might feel right at home , after he's done a couple of laps your grasstrack it will look more like Romsey than single track (you have seen his footage of Echuca haven't you??? I think he misplaced the brake pedal , every second corner....)
-
I think you will have to lower it for me its to tall!
My daughter has agreed to lend you her PW50. It's a flow-on model so no problem there, just needs a lighting kit sorted before then.
She did say that, "If he breaks it, he buys it."
Tex

I can provide a track widening service ;D

There will be a limited number of MA day lics available for Saturday. If you are already entered in the Vinduro then you only need to purchase the day lic. If you only want to only ride the practice track then the usual fees apply - entry, day membership, day lic. Bikes must still be pre85 though.

What he said... MA Permit 04195.
This would apply for Saturday's practice track situated on private property only. If you had a yearly rec (or race) licence then I s'pose you wouldn't need the 1 day version.

The excitement is building!
The event layout is shaping up nicely and from the looks of the terrain it will suit everything from the big bore blasters to the kamikazi tiddlers! Visit the VERi website for some pics and event details, including an accommodation guide.
Course update: Some changes have been made to the lay out of Sunday’s course. See details below.
Section 1 (The pines): 60 kms
Section 2 (Open cruising): 38 kms
Section 3 (Flow and twist): 30 kms
Section 4: (Transport): 5 kms
That’s a total of approximately 133 kms. There’ll be a fuel dump located after Section 1. You don’t have to do all of the sections, for example you can do a lap of Section 1, and then ride back to the starting area.
Sunday catering for breakfast and lunch will be provided by the Raglan Hall & Recreation Reserve Committee.
Remember that pre85 rec-reg bikes are eligible to participate too.
Now that the rides structure is defined, you can get stuck into your prep (last minute dieting, a couple of push-ups, clearing the ants nesting in your helmet from after the last ride), decide which bike to take and some maintenance, where you'll stay, anticipating how many cans of refreshment for Saturday night will be needed......all the big issues!
Please consider pre-entering - it wll make it easier for the club to get organised - or at least have correct monies and completed entry forms (downloaded from the VERi website) to bring with you on the day. Don't forget to pack in your membership card too!
This Vinduro is offering GREAT value with LOTS of riding so come along and enjoy the last big VERi ride event for this season.
-
is there a spot for a "Gathering of the Clans" on Saturday nite or is it a bit spread out for that??
-
is there a spot for a "Gathering of the Clans" on Saturday nite or is it a bit spread out for that??
I'd say it will be a bit spread out for that as people will take advantage of the various accommodation options available. I daresay there'll be a few folks "relaxing" at the Raglan Reserve camp ground, and the two pubs will probably do a reasonable trade too.
Perhaps we could organise a VERi bus to circulate around the various venues. I looked into it and we can get a pretty good deal on the one below. I'll talk to the rest of the committee and see what we can do. ;)

Tex
-
Its OK by me Tex. Not sure though whether it'll slow down peoples imbibing or increase it!
-
should have got a drenching last nite anyway! if its not burnt to a crisp.....
-
10mm max around Beaufort last night, windy today so all of that gone now
-
:(
-
Well, we're heading into the Beaufort Vinduro home straight (it is Melbourne Cup week after all!) and it's time to get your sh1t organised - now! Time will get away from you, trust me.
Check the accommodation guides and don't leave booking a room somewhere to the last minute.
Don't be concerned about the length of the loops; all it means is that you have the choice to ride as much or as little as you like. Do endless repeats of the short loop all day perfecting your riding techniques if that suits, or just do a single lap of the longer Euro loop and enjoy the scenery and awesome flowing trails.
The dedicated team of course markers are going all out to plot a terrific course with easy to follow arrowing (Drakey says the arrows should be out of reach of marauding sheep - but do dropbears who feed on arrows live in Pine plantations? Time will tell!) and the bail-out routes will get you back to civilisation quickly if you decide to have a rest.
One week and the countdown clock is ticking. :)

there is no emoticon for "rubbing hands together with glee" is there?
-
there is no emoticon for "rubbing hands together with glee" is there?
No, but there should be!
Just so everyone knows, cut off day for UVP applications has closed. Window of opportunity for pre-entry closes soon too, as in Tuesday... That's right, get your forms into the club secretary by no later than Tuesday (bearing in mind that Tuesday is a public holiday in Melbourne). Give Drakie a call if you need to discuss.
You can of course enter on the day(s). And a reminder that Vic rec rego is a-ok for this event too.

Yep, the start will be at the Raglan Recreation Reserve, and that's where the camping is too. I don't see why there should be any drama in your swag, but what you do in there is entirely your own business. :o
I'll be camping at the reserve, and I believe that the Ararat crew will be too, don't know who else is but I expect there'll be a few.
Tex
-
About 30 odd pre entries so far with quite a few more (including me) talking of entering so I would expect final numbers to be around 60 or so.

I'll be Swagging it as well.

sounds great, anything over 50 and it will be a great event. possible showers on sunday and a cool change...could be interesting. just fitted two new dunlops to the 510, chasing a unifilter recharge kit, get one at autobarn tomorrow.

No there was no water but there was a plantation pine forest that VERi was able to get a permit to run the Vinduro through the first time they have allowed any type of motorsport to use there land.

No there was no water but there was a plantation pine forest that VERi was able to get a permit to run the Vinduro through the first time they have allowed any type of motorsport to use there land.
Well Done to VERi and the Team Steve ..

and its Looks like it was well worth it ..

Geoff was stressed out wondering if his muffler would get the yzinger past the noise test..
Not as stressed out as my mate the customer, who then almost lost the thing before he'd completed Section 1!
So many happy punters, I am proud to have played a part in running this really unique vinduro. There was a great atmosphere in the pub on Saturday night, and everyone I met out on the course was having a ball.
Look out for the Beaufort Tour of The Pyrenees Mk 2 next year.
Champion effort from all the riders from NSW, ACT & SA who made the journey too I must say.

I had a ball got there 5:30 Saturday arvo had beers with blokes id never met but felt like id known my whole life in front of a good fire as it was freezing 32deg'c one minute 10deg'c the next then got up Sunday morning temp was a perfect 19deg'c for riding a bit dusty (mentally) even before throwing a leg over the bike and had one of the best rides you could have , a bit of dust out on the trail but wait 30 seconds between bikes and it was gone or stick up each others arses and race for a bit those that sat on the fence this year should book this one in for next year( i still want to be at least bike 5 on the grid again though) , well done VERi another well run event.

I got chatting to a local (waterloo) who raced maico's back in the day, he was veri excited (get it?) and was keen to know if there was some way of letting locals know the event was on. He saw the arrows and sussed some thing was happening.
He was just a bit concerned that he may have been moving sheep or something like that. I pointed out the Veri website for him to stay in touch. He still has one of the maicos...with an XL 500 motor in it :-[
A great ride and superb country. Great shots by Geoff, I sat up on top of the Pines and had a few snakes and checked out the panorama.
some arrow drama but everyone was cool and we hunted around like dogs that have missed the rabbit till we found the red dot and off we all went...almost a tradition now. :)
I had a tough time in the tight piney up hill section on the 510...it has an auto pilot setting I cant switch off..it just goes where it wants to then and the clutch lever came loose and then i stalled it :o it started in 3 kicks which was a blessing cause I was a spent force.
The sharp downhill caught a few out and into the rut we went like a freight train but fortunately we all bounced out the other end without carnage.
Sections 2 and3 were a nice cruise up and down the ridges with too many whippy sticks on the knuckles (must get bark busters for that camel) and some high speed roos which were a bit close for comfort.
a great track and a big thank you to the VERI team, HVA and the beafort /Raglan locals for supporting the event.
the Parc Ferme was a great sight sunday morning
I took a cooks tour on the way home via the Chute Lexton back road and there was Tex in the middle of know where getting his scooter of the trailer for a ride!
Planning Next years track??

In the parc. Sunday morning with 60 + registered vintage enduro bikes. That's a fabulous site and thanks to our members for supporting the club.
Riding on Sunday with the Wild bunch (Steve and Dave) , the event consisted of a course with three sections with a total distance of approx. 120km.
Fabulous fast trails and scenery , including a cracker of an uphill section in the pine forest that felt like it went for ever and had you yelling for more
Great week - end
On club rego , full rego or rec . for the cost of the entry its "Priceless".
You want the old time enduro feel on long quality trails "Go VERi " we will take you all the way there.

He mustn't get out much! It was advertised in several local papers, there were articles in 2 of those papers leading up to it, community info website, local motorbike club's facebook page, poster in window of Beaufort newsagent, lots of locals talking it up... Thanks for directing him to the site. We're gonna look at ways of getting even more local participants in 2015.

Nah, I'd just finished taking down the arrows from Section 2 of this year's track!

A big thank you is due to all the volunteers who helped make this first event such a success - Kristin, Sean, Barb, Poppy, Rachelle, Colin, Geoff, Bruce, Michael, Peter, John, Mike and anyone else I've forgotten. Special mention must go to Drakie who did a lot of legwork getting this event up and running, and spent many hours mapping and arrowing.
Thanks also to the local people who made us so welcome, including the RRR committee and everyone at the Golden Age pub.
And not forgetting our generous sponsors - Engineered Environments and Discount Motorcycle Wreckers.
By the way I found a green battery on Section 2 while sweep riding. If it's yours and you want it back send me a PM.

There are some great shots there, thanks GMC & 80-85 husky. Those hill shots are near a spot that Drakie & I removed from the course on Friday afternoon, as we deemed it too hard. Possible 'rooster' and 'chicken' routes in 2015... 8)

The Hill: chuck it in next year, every one will have a crack! If at first you don't succeed..... go round the easy way ;)
great shots guys, I see the headlight works on the 510... I thought the bulb had gone.??...
I like the "in air" shot, new screensaver I rekon, summed up the ride nicely.
-
That "air shot" is awesome. Looks like some great single track through the pines.
-
Noooooooo :o he said it not me!

It wasn't a single lane track it was an overgrown logging track
