Title: Question: Will a later KX500 stator cover fit an earlier 83/84 KX500?

G'day KX'perts..

Okay, I see on eBay some sellers have nice stator engine side covers for sale - and have them listed as fitting the 83 KX500... (?)

Here is an example:

My question is: Before I perform an expensive experiment, does anyone know whether the 83/84 (A1/A2) stator covers are the same as later models?

Surely someone here knows....? Big K / Nathan / Trent Farlow / KAW440 / Steve W ?  :)

I might actually add that the picture used in this advert isn't the actual item as the 83-84 KX5's have 5 attachment bolts.....

The year designations in the ad are a little confusing....  ???

John,
        I always ask the supplier the question via email if said parts will suit my application. That way you have a document if any recourse is needed further down the track. A way smarter and most times cheaper way to go than a forum opinion I would think.

Thanks Sam - I figured the guys (such as Ted) might know seeing as though they have one of the said KX's in their shed...

Of course I can always ask them...... but y'know......   :o

Ok then. Looks the same, but seeing as it has no scaled drawings attached it would only be a guess.

Just to close out this topic... I bought it and it fitted spot on.
The Boyesen part number is SC-13B for anyone else looking for one.
It will definitely fit the 83, 84 and 85 KX500, and then from 88 on. Not sure about the 86 and 87's.

Looks sweet hardo love the factory looking gear is the sprocket guard standard type or custom job from the raff
