Title: Gloucester Vinduro OCTOBER 25/26
Post by: Mick D on September 26, 2014, 09:04:31 pm
Well I for one am so glad that I made the effort to Cookardinia.
Matcho Mick gave me the tip, make it to a Maccas, sleep in their car parking, wake up, use their rest room, then breakfast and Coffee up :)
great idea 8) refreshed as, then cruised on in to Holbrook for supply's, I was ridding a high, still am. Great weekend.

At the Holbrook fuel Bowser, a bloke next to me with an old bike on a trailer introduced himself. Stewart. Great bloke.
To be honest I was still day dreaming about the Irish Redhead who just sold me Beer at the Holbrook pub ::) ::) ::)

Will need to spend some quality time in the shed, I need to fit new shoes to the cuckoo, maybe red heels with little bows?

I'll write it down in the activity calendar! :)

I am pretty sure all marks are welcome, even Husqvabots,,
but being the kind sort of a bloke that I am ;D
I will give you a heads up,,
The  loops are on the other side of the river from the camp site,,
So, there  is a 4" deep river crossing to access the other side, and a six inch deep river crossing to return 8) 8)
So if you are bringing bots, dip them in copious amounts of silastic first  ;D ::)

Hey Ted, there was one of those Maygo's at the Classic RR titles today, looked like a 490 motor, was running around the back of the field, might have been the sweep bike... :)

Oh that's just plain cruel Teddles,
Lets face it, there is more chance of you getting that KX500 full tap in top hole than a Maico breaking down.
Make sure you don't go to sleep on Saturday night, and don't forget to fit that F&*king generator with a life jacket.

I only bought three largies with me, as a strategy to strarve myself of achohol, and go hard on Sunday,
But with the out of action blown tyre fiasco and all,,,well I thought I may-as -well have a sip..
Thank god for the thre largies,

Title: Re: Gloucester Vinduro OCTOBER 25/26
Post by: Mick D on September 29, 2014, 11:05:27 am
Can I camp Friday night?

Yes Mick, arrival Friday and camping OK, but I believe gates closing at 8pm
It will be pitch black, Friday the 24th is a New moon, No Moon

There is a fifteen foot drop on one side of the camp site access entry, easily visible in daylight,
but as a precaution the property owners don't want first time users negotiating it in the dark,
hence the gates shutting at 8.

Good news on both accounts, thanks blokes.

Hey Adam, I have to say the feeling of anticipation rises up the closer you get to these events, aways does :)
One cool thing was you stepping forward upon entry and shaking hands while I was still in the car,
a welcome is a cool thing, thanks.
The Hume Hwy is an easy leisurely cruise home at 105 K's, especially when your still grinning, Great vibe.
 See you all next year.

Thanks for making the 700kms haul to Cooka Mick. We felt there should be a prize for furthest travelled. A big effort thankyou.
Glad you had a great time and hope you make it next year.
Thanks to MCA Auburn you won a very large UFO gearbag.
I'll work something out with Ted as I pretty much go past his house on the way home.

Just spoke to Dennis. His computer is down, that's why he is not amping this up.

There will be a show of restored exotic VMX bikes on display from Prime8Racing so get your mates to come as well to check them out.

I've seen the course and it has something for everybody all set against the beautiful scenery this part of the country has to offer. Plenty of photo opportunities and lookouts on this loop. Free camping on the river. Firewood is cut. They don't get any better than this.

Queenslands Premier club QVMX have kindly given me some Tshirts to hand out. Win one of these and there's your entry fee paid ;D

Last Vinduro of the year. Don't miss it!!!!!!!!!

So who's coming.

Hey Mick that's great. There will also be quite a few restored Huskys, KTM and Maico's on display from Prime8Racing.

If anyone wants to check out these bikes, the Vinduro bikes or see what Vinduro is all about it is free to have a look. So come along and bring your mates. It will be worth it.

With the proposed inclusion of the Pre 90 class to be voted on at Lakes round for Heaven VMX i wonder if that flows on to Heaven Vinduro. Would be good if it did. Disc brakes on most bikes then. Disc brakes and water= much more fun ;D

Heading up to give Stephen a hand next week.

yes, I've entered also.

Looking forward to some nice trails....no dust - fingers crossed.

Ah just some safety advice - please clear all logs and tree roots etc with in 500m of the arrowed trail so that Mr Baker can safely ride the 'Welsh' line :) And can you mention something about T-boning your mates not being mandatory at riders briefing, please.

There seems to be some negative comment about euro bikes floating about......and whilst some brands don't seem as reliable as others I don't believe it fair to pick on the KTM clan. After all they hang out together and don't seem to bother anyone unless they break down on single track :0

The Mattighofen mob appear to congregate under the anonymity of nightfall and perform a strange ritual on their machinery using metal tools and headlamps. Approach with caution at this time as they always have sentry posted to warn of impending sarcasm. While this phenonhom is quite common in Euro lodgings I have NEVER witnessed it in a Japanese camp, day or night.

Yes Mick, arrival Friday and camping OK, but I believe gates closing at 8pm
It will be pitch black, Friday the 24th is a New moon, No Moon

There is a fifteen foot drop on one side of the camp site access entry, easily visible in daylight,
but as a precaution the property owners don't want first time users negotiating it in the dark,
hence the gates shutting at 8."

is there an altenative overnight camp area for late arrivals?

It is up to the land owners and the neighbouring properties that have welcomed us for the weekend.
It is a dairy farming community who are to bed early and up early.
It may be possible on Friday night Noel for those who are considerate, to be arriving late past the neighbor's residence, after a long journey.
I posted notification of 8pm gate closure upon request from the land owners.
I supplied the owner with a new role of fluro bundding to tape off and mark out the the drop off, which is as obvious as nuts on a bull during daylight.
They are also concerned about anyone returning much later from an evening of in town drinking.
They do not want anyone that has been drinking, to be driving on their property or the gravel access road past their neighbors. And that's fair enough too, safety for all is the name of the game. They want this to be a safe fun weekend for all.
There will be plenty of room around the communal campfire for those wishing to relax a beer or two,,,or three ;D
So bring a chair.

The land land owner also said the gate would be back open at day break.

I will arrange for alternate camping for those that arrive late it will be only a short distance from the main camp . We are entering main campsite via Mid Coast Water Property which is the towns water supply station they would prefer people not to be going thru all night or me leaving their gates unlocked . For those that arrive after dark follow Irrawang Road and I will put up alternate camp site sign which will be a paddock where you can camp the night , the gates TO MAIN CAMP will be re-opened at day break where you can make your way to camp. Being this is the first event and people unfamiliar with the surroundings I would prefer we run with gates being shut on dark , cheers and look forward to seeing you next weekend. Relfy

No canteen this time I am afraid Mick total BYO food and beverages this weekend. KISS principle for this event. If this area is as good for Vinduros as we think it will be then looking at expanding for the next one.

As Ted said there is everything within a 10mins drive including a Woolies supermarket, cafes, restuarants, great pubs. Great Oz country town 8)

Umm OK rephrase :-[

Total BYO for food and refreshments

Toilets on site while hot shower few hundred metres away at the showground or swim in the river 10 metres away.

Umm does that justify the coffee machine ;D

Very enjoyable - a nice combination of tight / open / hills / flats to ride on. The rivers to cool off in were a bonus. My apologies to the towns people of Gloucester  ;)

And what a great event it was. Big thanks to all the local lads ( who might just have secured some Maxima Oil sponsorship for next year ) for their massive effort and to a most welcoming Relf family who literally threw their property open to us.

Was interesting to see rider numbers at this Vinduro surpass the host clubs last VMX meet of the year, which also included the AGM. In fact Gloucester Vinduro was only a handful short of the fantastic Cookardinia Vinduro a month earlier. Vinduro in NSW is growing very rapidly.

Who would of thought 8)

Yes Steve that would be good to do that to get out before the Heat of the Day.
But we do need time to let the riders turn up and  time to do sign   in and to all the paper work  be for we start ..
we did start on Saturday  around 10.30am and the Loop was open to 5.00 pm.
     that 6 1/2 hours of riding ...
and On Sunday we started around 8.30 am to 2.oo pm and that 5 1/2 hours of riding.
But by 12 .00 evey one  was in the River having a swim ...so we closed the loop early ..
Buy Hay I /we are all way happy to listen  and your point is taken in ..

     yes it was hot ..

     Dennis

Most would be keen for a  Saturday start by 10;30  or a bit earlier
(if riders are keen they should be there  & signed  on by 10:00  )  Pre entry   by  most would help too
   Maybe ;
Sign on by 10.00 am  Saturday
   Riders briefing 10:15
   Riding by 10:30
(It was after 11;00 by the time  we got out on the loop at Gloucester on Saturday )

Great rides  , just  like to be into it a bit earlier in the day  ;)

    Regards,
                       Steve

You could always turn up on the Thursday prior and help cut the loop in, just like a few of us have done on several occasions. Or you could arrow the track. Or you could fill out the paperwork. Or you could be on hand when the toilet guy gets there. Or you could organise the water for the toilets. Etc. There is plenty of riding with any of these jobs.

I really hope you guys appreciate whatever riding time you get.

Yes we all would like to get as much riding time as we can   .
Riders briefing. Yes it dose some time go on a bit that is true  .
we do sometime need   to Spell out a few thing  That riders  Need to know and this Must be done ....

We are a small team and we do the best we can  ..

So Yes Please if your are Happy with what we have  got ( Vinduro ) and you like it....
Then Please Yes  let evey One Know it ..
But on the other hand  I/We are listing to what you are telling us ...and we  are taking it in...
