I would like to see the 2015 Australian vintage Titles to be held at Barrabool Geelong Victoria. I would be a honor to raise your classes and make a toast to the Barrabool Track, to the Mcadam Family and the sporting Club for many years of racing and to people that made barrabool and its history from the very early 60`s to 2015. it will be a sad day. and I would like M.A M.V get behind the club and help support such an event for the last time.

Put in the bid, get the approval, and go for it. Make it happen and we will come.

I am in, As long as the CSC are willing and have positive thoughts, I will design the Track, I would ask Sporting Club too and MA, they are the land owners.

A wonderful thought Dave but . . . who said Barrabool is dead? Was it one bloke from MA (now gone) who convinced a board it was the way to go? And was it a sell out for dollars or the good of the sport?
I suggest that all riders ask MA to provide the legal reasons they are saying it is not possible to continue motorcycling at Barrabool and it should close - when you find that one out get them to please show us as we would like to know! (secret out of court settlements to save money aren't legal reasons).
If everyone were to come to Barrabool we don't want everyone to endorse MA's mistakes by saying "wasn't it great" - rather we want them to be crying "why isn't the club being given the chance to go it for another 50 years?"
The neighbours have said from the very beginning that the club continuing (not MA) at Barrabool was something they would accept. What they wouldn't accept was MA's absurd future plans of overuse. MA didn't back off on this elevated usage, they lost. Remove MA and you remove the problem.
The facts are the land still enjoys legal existing usage rights and always could, that right has not been lost! I bet no-one has seen that said in any press release from MA????
MA has simply volunteered to extinguish these rights that were proven by the SMCC in 2011 in VCAT.
We have all been stooged. Why is everyone sitting back and allowing this to happen?
The next 50 years starts now.

Do you want another one Dave . ;D

Peter. I for one don`t what barrabool to close, I would like CSC and Sporting go forward together and put on the Australian Vintage titles. I asked Beekie if this could be done.
what does gary A think, there is a new CEO at MA now, where do we start. Maybe start with putting our hand up to run the Australia VMX Title, as long as the Sporting club is all for it.

Bendigo MC has applied for the post classic Nat's to be held at Ravenswood, just waiting to hear the outcome of which club actually gets it.

Great stuff BigK. Something the Victorian VMX scene needs. I hope the proposal gets the nod.

Get the job done Dave! You need to put your proposal to the CSC or the Sporting Club and they in turn will submit a proposal to MA if they want to run it.
From what I have read about MA's stance on playing hard ball with Barrabool, lets hope they (MA) see Barrabool as THE PLACE in Victoria to host a National event.....It would sure be better than Broadford.
-
Guys, whilst it would be great fun there's far more important things going on at the moment than one event in one year. We want more than that and we are asking people to work with us to help us get there.
Riders will get their chance to come to Barrabool next year, thats a promise. And it will be special.
Trouble is we are only allowed one big event next year and we have things already in the pipeline. At this stage any talk of running the Classics is stepping on toes somewhat.
If people want to help Barrabool then helping us in the political arena is where they can help most!
-
Barra, would it be a good idea for someone who knows the exact Barrabool situation relative to MA, local authority etc, to write a comprehensive letter to relevant clubs. We all want to see Barabool survive, but most of us have little understanding of the true picture.
With both MA and the authorities, informed input from the clubs should carry some weight.

This makes me happy.

WRT Barrabool, I'd read that it was all over at the end of 2015. Love to hear that this is not correct.
Does MA have an ownership stake in the track?
-
Also re Barrabool, was there ever an accounting of where the money sponsoring bricks ended up?
-
Yea, I bought them, seems this track has been in the poo for many, many years.

I have already spoken to Peter Allard and others at the last club day they had, they turned there nose up at my suggestion.

That doesn't surprise me Dave....I also made the same suggestions when I was there and got the same result as you. Shame, but the present committee seem more interested in pre85 Vinduro than Classic Scrambling.....

Supersenior, with goal posts constantly changing and the situation being so complicated, we could not begin to tell the story to clubs etc in one letter. But we are trying!
For those genuinely interested we have a lot of info on the club website which we update fairly regularly www.smcc.com.au (http://www.smcc.com.au)
Not wanting to hijack this thread I have started another in response to questions raised over in ‘General discussion’.

Barrobool has been dead story for ages, its ready to be sold off, nothing never going to be done there except houses in the next 10 years.
-
Yeah for Alison keeping us up to date on all things VMX :) you go girl 247
-
Date Freaky!!lol
-
Well.... perfect opportunity for the people from the other side of the island to come over..bring the significant other.. travel around and visit the Marg River wine region..all we need is a date.. it has been a few years since we have ridden at Jindong..but my recollection it was a great track, very adaptable to VMX.. can't wait
-
May I suggest early Oct. Aug/Sept very busy over here.
Pleased WA has stepped up. Crank up those old Superseniors, looking forward to resuming combat with Watto, Ron Tyresome, Jesse James, and maybe drag the old CCM warriors out of hibernation. We'll have minimum three SS from Brisbane MCC.
-
I will force myself to go just because I can. Great venue, great camping and facilities in a great area
-
Unreal guys. Should be a big one considering it is your 20th anniversary as well. Lets hope it is as big as the 15th anniversary.
-
WoW. Just looked up Jindong. Couldn't get much further south west if you tried.

right in the middle of the best wine and best surf in Australia
-
That pin on the map is close..the track is still a ltlle bit to the west of that pin.. off Roy Road..
-
Awesome. Have a few races on dirt bikes, jump in the surf for a freshen up, then get stuck into some top shelf wines with a good helping of fresh seafood. Ahhh, the life of it all.
PS. Make sure you have good sun glasses or the glare from us Victorians will blind anyone within 20 metres 8)
