Title: 1975 YZ250B Spocket cover
Post by: melx on August 31, 2014, 09:33:32 pm
I am rebuilding a 75 YZ250B to race and it is close to completion, a harder project than I thought as parts are getting hard to find, I am still looking for a standard size piston but that is not stopping me yet, my problem is the bike has the original sprocket cover or minimal cover if you like but the Regs state I must cover the sprocket? Not use the original setup that everyone actually raced at the time?  Unless I fix that I cant race it? What do people use? does DT2MX cover fit onto the bike? All help appreciated.

Contact Davey Crocket (John Tate) on here, makes a very nice billet 1 that has the legal sprocket covering

There were 2 types available, one covers the sprocket,
I have 1 of each in stock.

MelX - I agree with Tony - the one DC has is expensive but really good and also helps lighten the clutch feel.

Having troubles finding aprts - have you tried Yamatopdog or NWVCP?

If your talking YZB [which it sounds like] & not MX250B 1975 [had one new] then any clutch lifting sprocket cover from "68 DT1 to "73 DT3/RT3 would [should] fit, just a matter of finding one. Haven't trawled ebay for a while but everything seems to be getting more expensive. Even stumbled on an aftermarket rear sprocket for a DT1mx for $360+ dollars gosh & even showed a number had sold--yeah rite. Sorry if i missed the point without going back, but if you have a broken cover with good lifter can you extend it back to cover the area. Cheers.

loosing the plot, thought i'd posted this so will do it again just incase. Only that there's a YZ360B on trademe for 9 grand--yellow one.  Original clutch lifter so not legal in oz without adding to.
