AT long long last I now have my race bike to enter into VMX racing in the class I think I can handel. ;D pre 75 125.
Thanks to a forum member ( ID yourself if you choose ) I am now the proud owner of this CR125m. Clearly needs total rebuild and a seat would be handy... Even so im very pleased to own this little rocket.
Any advice, parts, tips on getting the bike ready are most welcome. injuries limit my abilities to work on it for a while and cash flow is tight at moment, yet she will be done in fasted time possible given these restraints. All other MX bike projects will be put on hold to focus efforts into this bike until shes race ready.
Still workng bon transport from Brisbane to me in country NSW. Soon to be sorted i hope..
Heres a picture of my pride and joy..

Looks familiar, you will have to change your riding no.though! Racing it on the weekend? ::)
-
At last!
Brad, I think the whole OzVMX community owes you a beer - Quickie's finally got an Elsinore!
And Drew, you'd better have it ready for when your body is ready. Can't wait to see you on the start line for one of HEAVEN's Classic 125 races. :)
-
By the way quickys posting, he will turn pro before he throws a leg over this thing. Hone your riding skills mate cause the pressure will be on to perform to your grading ;D
-
good on ya quicky hope to see you out there in the future ;)
-
Well Done Quicky 8). Ditto what Nathan said Brad. All you need is the big brother Quicky - will you be happy then ?? Looking forward to action photos of you at the start line !!
-
First and formost I need to get it down here. Then I can get my one good hand dirty and start pulling her apart. Brad, being good he his, has chucked in a spare barrel and head. First job will be to unlock the engine for inspection and full rebuild.
Suprise suprise.. ;D Quick search on ebay bought up a list of everything i need from bearings to piston kits, even a complete CR125m seat .. Bloody hell. A pleasant change from searching TM250 parts. ::).Just have to finance it all now...At least I have 55 interest free days to pay back price of the bike. ;D ;D
As for racing......... First position at rear of the field ;D Thats about the position id expect given my rusty old ridding skills, over weight fragile body and total lack of youthful recklessness.
-
Who cares where you are in the field as long as you're having fun ;D ;D ;D

Yeah mate, big brother one day.. At moment im relishing in excitement over my 125.. First things first.. ;) I have my racer.. wooo hooo. ;D ;D Fun city here we come..
-
yeah good onya Quicky. That looks like a much better place to start :) ya know, if you stop looking TM stuff it will start appearing..it comes back to the law of relativity..if it's relevant you won't find it till it become irrelevant! ;)

orange tank, though that was 75. m2 or is that just the tank ?
anyhow dont wind it too tight. we got a guy down here runniing on methonol, bloody fast and it was wound so tight though it did have trouble keeping the bottom end happy. GEt the thing running sweet and just enjoy it , if you make it too fast or too sexy youll be too afraid to use it or it may become unstable.
Glad your back on track. If you can get it to a brisbane depot we can get it to newcastle or blacktown, depending on what you want to spend on getting it back and how soon :O)
-
Freaky, yeah its a 75 model but legal for pre 75. Great you have gone to trouble with your freight options, im sure many will use the service. For me it wont really work as the depots are still many hours drive from my place. Their some companies that use the inland route. Just need to get it on-board one of those carriers.
-
Congrats Quicky, welcome to the Elsinore club ;D

im more interested in a close up of that stand. mine always seems to catch fowl the pipes when you kick it down, and you cant use a milkcrate. I think its to high off the dec but maybe its the design at the frame lift point. Close up please
-

Waiting on return call while they search to locate it.

-
Bloody hell , what a shocker ::) Hope there's a happy ending!
-
;D ;D Happy ending alright Brad. ;D ;D She's now sitting on my back patio waiting for restoreation to commence. She arrived an hour ago.
-
SO what are you doing on the computer ??? - get out the back and start taking photos (of everything you can possibly imagine on the bike) then get into pulling her down ;D ;D
-
Spend morning messing about with the Elsinore. Cleaned carby, flushed crank and cases, light hone of the bore, bolted on temp RM80 ( till I clean out original ) Put her back together. Got a mate around to kick her for me. With bit petrol in plug hole she fired right up on third kick. Ran her for 15 mins. ;D ;D Woo hoo.
Crank a little noise but at least shes going. Also picked up a really great condition seat last week end at swap meet too. Things are starting to happen. ;D
-
Update.
Shes a goer. ;D
The CR has had a minor clean up, new tyres, few new cables and $20 swap meet seat fitted. She's vastly different now to when she arrived. The paint work " just good enough" for a ride bike. She wont be winning any prizes thats for sure. Old line marking tape that lifted between colours giving feather edges, spokes shocking, hubs unpainted not forgetting an exhaust that splatters oil all over the place through poor fitment. With all her faults and substandard parts she still gives me untold amount of joy. I just love it.. ;)
With my brittle bones and against medical advise I still live in hope she will see the race track. I have convinced the lady of the house to let race oil track on an XT250. " Its saver ya see hahaha " Then im gunna work my way around the family to go VMXing. After all we cant just let a good bike sit now can we. ;D ;D ;D ;D

. Nah mate not yet. Its kiiling me too. hahaha.. Gotta get a chain, stop the tap fuel leak then im right for lap up the lane.
Paint is only a fair job. No sence in worrying to much about it when im prolly gunna scratch it. If it were a paid job or a show bike I would of taken a lot more care.

Speaking of little CR's - who ended up with my Cr125 ? went to Qld i think in about 2006 sold to some chap under some feable story it was for his kid. Wish i knew you could have ridden a 75 model in pre 75, wouldnt have sold it was in top nick.
which one of you scoundrels has it now ? Be Easy to spot it had Gold anodised rims
-
A better picture of the little beast. Tomorrow ( Saturday 19.4.08 ) shes goes on display at the local country show. It will be interesting to see how she is received. I have done up a facts sheet about CR125m and promo for VMX to gauge local responce and hopefully attract some interest in the sport.

Sure as hell aint me. Nice bike Freaky. Do you want it back? Things can be tracked if you are willing to work at it. ;)
-
NAh i had a red one as a kid and it was slow as shit.
-
Thats why you go for the silver ones. ;D
-
Well i thought it was fast until a kid up the roads dad bought him a new KX 80 and it made my bike look like old and shit, then again it was 86 and was by then a 10 year old bike , and the fact i was even as a kid 6ft, and looked more like a prey mantis atop a beer pull ring bicycle couldnt have helped the cause
so saying it was wafty could be a little on the rough side. let me refraze that, i was too big for it and the new model mono shocks with better motors made it look slow. :'(
