Title: Hi from Sydney
Post by: rob86 on August 23, 2014, 04:22:31 pm
Hi Everyone,

I guess I should introduce myself. I'm Rob, I live in the inner west of Sydney, I grew up racing mx at blacktown mini bike club and then moved onto Oakdale. Living near the city and juggling racing with high school put an end to riding until I was old enough for a license .

I've recently been trying to get a dt250a ready for dirt track at nepean and running into ignition issues so if any Dt wizards have any tips I'm always happy to learn or if anyone's holding parts even better!

Truth be told though after  last Saturdays practice meet up on my buddy's 78 yz250 I'm not so sure I want to pursue the Dt any longer haha.

Well enough about me  and hopefully I'll get to ride with some of you guys on here soon - Cheers

Welcome
Firko is the DT-A man who knows most things. Look up PVL ignitions

Any of the 250\open YZ Yamaha ignitions  will fit up to 1978 . Im not a dirt track rider but apart from the extra kg's I think the lower frame on the DTa would be better for sliding . Welcome to the mad house . Iain

Cheers guys.
I've been looking into the pvl's but was hoping for a cheap fix so I can do a day on the bike and decide whether to stick with it. As you pointed out Iain I went for the Dt because I liked the idea of the lower bike plus being a 74 got me into a few classes so more riding time!

Hey Brett,

You mean Matt that bought the yz I'm assuming off of you? Yea mate that's me, you headed out this weekend?
I did a practice day on the yz at nepean the other week and that's what got me thinking the Dt might not be enough haha. It's such a fun bike and that power delivery sure keeps you on your toes!
