Title: Carby for 504
Post by: Butcher on August 11, 2014, 04:07:16 pm
Went to nenock swap meet and a gs500 followed me home. After a few discussions with lots of wise men, they tell me to throw away the bing  and get a mikuni flat slide. Is this good advise, and if so do I buy new or s/hand?

I am running my 1990 GS500 and 1983 495 with Keihin 39 PWK. 52-55 slow jet, 175 main jet, and a CEG needle is what KTM of america recommends.

Bings are great if in good nick. But I put delorto 40 phm pumper and it makes it more responsive to bottom end and was recommended by type flight riders of the day. So if good enough for them I'm not going to argue
Bings can make starting interesting when cold thou.
Where did you acquire the best from? And what year

Have a 560 Rotax fourstroke with the Mikuni flatslide on it and it absolutely hammers.
Starts ok hot or cold not hesitation or flatspots, cant tell you the settings
on the carb as I haven't had the bike for very long.
