Title: Twin valve xt 250 advise..
Post by: evo550 on July 28, 2014, 09:43:41 pm
Can't believe it, in a moment of madness I just paid $400 for one of these.
What's the good oil on these rockets?
Anyone done a yz/it suspension upgrade?
Grahame S over to you ;)

checkout the tt250 thread started by twist and shout that should get you pointed in the right direction, a serve of compression is good for some instant torque and will work well with the bigger duration 350 cam mentioned

I have ,still have the frame I modified using a yz 250 h rear shock and swing arm and 43 mm forks but I didn't use it because of the engine mod and the carby I needed to run the motor wouldn't fit so I used a xc husky frame  https://db.tt/LZwZjdlp. Cheer Ek

Rockets they are not.  But a few mods can fix that a bit.  yfm350 cam (heaps on ebay us), yfm350 valves (1mm bigger), ttr250 carb, aftermarket pipe (or make your own like ekka did), open up airbox too.

Works Performance in the states do a decent affordable replacement monoshock, and many later model yamahas forks fit.

Thanks guys, the YFM engine mods seem very popular, I've also read a lot of chatter about the 350 piston as well, but I've never had a lot of luck with BIG bore mods so might steer clear of that one.
Ekka, What exactly was the fitment problem you had with engine and carb after your suspension mods?
