Without going into pages and pages of this and that what would it take to run an aussie cdt title on DIRT with out having a split 2 days or 3 days.
-
we ran 2011 aussie titles at north bris
where are you
-
Tell me how to help - its a doable event in DT.
-
We ran up to Pre85 in 2011 no problem with a quite big entry (as did Griffith). No juniors or other support classes to soak up track time and it can be done.
-
I think Steve7406 is talking about a one day event which I think is impossible unless its an oiled track and even then you'd be pushing it.
Nth Bris only ran 4 rounds and no finals in 2011 and Griffith ran 4 maybe even 5 rounds and finals and some Junior classes over 2 days in 2010, it is an oiled track though.
-
Would run it at Broadford which is dirt thinking Friday sign in and practice Sat/Sun racing but would need a lot of committed people over 3 days.
-
Under those conditions you'd do it easy, I'm sure there would be more than a few DT starved Mexicans champing at the bit to help.
Go for it because we'd love to see it at Broadford.

Steve
I would see it as valuable for the sport just to have a Victorian AU Championship meeting - happy to assist in any way, just tell me how.

Griffith hosted the 2010 CDT we had a practise & one round under lights, starting at 4.00pm with practise (we hoped to run two rounds under lights but the Clerk of the Course assumed there was rain on the way,he had no idea as the club spent alot off money & time into the getting the lighting the weather was spot on & a good Saturday night crowd. Griffith can run a CDT in one day but ! It is a weekend of catching up & having a good time . We could do the whole show in 6 hours, 20 races per hour. We normally have to send the grader out at some stage to slow the show down as riders complain that the race schedule is to fast.
But the 2 day format is great relaxed drive & something goes wrong you time to fix it & the camp fire nights are usually better then the racing.
-
Gee, I wonder who that Clerk of the Course was?
Please don't answer but sounds like that the same one that wanted part of the junior MX track on the infield bulldozed?
Honestly, this Grasy bloke is a moth, if there is a camp fire burning he won't FFF off, unless his missus say's so.
Go the Chookies Dave, 4 times in two years.

We ran 5 rounds at Nth Brisbane
Good to see the enthusiasm back in CDT.

Yep, the Griffith club certainly has the organizing of a race meeting nailed, top track and top people. Having ridden there many times myself in the past and knowing what the Club could do, I went into bat for them, on the DT Committee, in 1997 for the NSW Classic titles. The powers that be wanted to cut the proposed race numbers back from 120 events to 90, the powers won, at the end of the day, at 2.30pm or so, Mick went up to the Committee Chairman and said " What are we gunna do for the rest of the day? "
Many clubs could take a leaf out of Griffiths book.

My mistake Col and I rode that meeting as well.
Agreed, great to see DT being discussed again.

would drive the 1500k to Griffith in a flash if the Nats were there again......
Was one of the better events no doubt; so why not look ahead to (say) 2016 and have another lash!

Dave, I'm a member of Canberra club and I know we can run 3 minutes flag to flag, we have Tim as C o C this year, I've worked with him, as the Starter, at an OZ modern DT title in Canberra and I know, given good weather conditions and no unforeseen holdups we can keep the show rolling. Track prep is gunna be most important and that will be the make or break point so , fingers crossed that the weather gods smile on us !!!
Totally agree with you about Griffith, oil track but loose so no tyre issues and a bit closer for our Southern people !!

NSW has always been and probably always will be the heartland of Aussie Dirttrack.
If we're fair dinkum about promoting the sport we should all throw our collective weight behind the Broadford bid for 2015, facilities are second to none and the track is awesome.
Somewhere in QLD for 16 then Griffith for 17?
Just my thoughts.

A big yes for Broadford.
