Gday all. Looking for a Cam for the 84XR250 RE.
Please dont ask why ... :o ??? :o
I can get a new one from Partzilla for only $124 USD (which I might do anyway) , but not sure if it will arrive in time for Heaven's next RD at Cessnock.
Please if anyone can help out that would be great.
Cheers,
Hardo

Sorry mate but let me be the first to ask WHY? Maintenance or installation issues?
Try making a request via
http://www.findapart.com.au
It goes out to bike wreckers all over the country, I've had some luck using it in the past.
Cheers
Pete

Agree. A machine shop maybe able to do the work for you. Worse case, make a new part.

I had a similar thing happen on an 84 XL250 but I was only using a 1/4 drive ratchet. When I went looking for a new crankshaft I found that many others had experienced a breakage in the same area. It seems to be a common fault and may excuse your heavy handed rattle gun approach.
I did get mine welded with the intention of putting it in the lathe and skimming the surface that mates with the Cam sprocket then using the sprocket to center and drill/tap the hole. Problem was the welder used stellite which apparently is about as hard as diamonds and nothing would touch it.....

Cheers Michael and thankyou Noel. I will take you up on that offer.
I wouldnt have actually thought that was repairable.... sweet !
Yes Pete... that was it for sure ! had NOTHING to do with my poor tool-sense .... :P
