What will be the 'cut-off' date for Vinduro for this event guys??
My daughter wants to ride on her TTR125. She has absolutely NO experience and her boy friend is similar but I have an XL185 for him to ride.
Excepted or not?
BTW I might bring my sidecar....is it all single track or can we have a crack?
-
The cut off date is 1990, however we are not rule Nazi's. Our Vinduro track is not the best place for riders to be if they have no off road experience. That said, there is no better place to get some experience than riding around our tracks. The difficulty rating of our track would average out to be around a 4 out of 10, with 10 being the most difficult. Most of the loop is single track, and tracks with washout's etc and would not suitable for your sidecar, unless your monkey has a chain saw, and a shovel.

13 and 14 September is a Monday and Tuesday :o :o. Please confirm dates!

ok will remember to pack both............shovel and chainsaw (check)
so whats wrong with a vinduro on a Mon & Tues pezberg???????????????
-
ok will remember to pack both............shovel and chainsaw (check)
Don't you dare widened some of the best single track around.
-
sidecars do that by nature..........widen bush tracks that is ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Rest easy gents, the track will not be widened for sidecars, tongue in cheek comment from me, Sidecars will not be allowed to ride at our Vinduro. sorry to mislead anyone. I know I'm getting old and I need glasses to read, but looking at my desk calendar the 13th of September 2014 is a Saturday, therefore Sunday would be the 14th of September. Noel, the single track will be better than last time and there will be more of it.

What .....no sidecars, they let 'em in Sth Aust????
Oh well, that means I'll have to fix a solo.
Anyone got a good head for an XR200 twin carb??
-
Can't wait 8)
I'm guessing it being September we won't be expecting 40deg like last time.
If anyone out there hasn't made it to Murphy's Creek your missing out on a great event and a great bunch of guys/gals to have a quiet ale with at the end of the day. :P
-
This is shaping up to be our biggest Vinduro. Lawrie has been exploring new tracks whilst we put the annual Murphy's Creek Trail Ride in earlier this month.
This will be a great event. Be sure to get along.
-
I've been checking out some great new tracks for our Vinduro on the 13th & 14th of September, and after recent rains the area should be in prime condition for some great Vinduro riding ;D. The sections will not be to difficult or to challenging for all you seasoned Vinduro riders ;)
We encourage and welcome camping as we have a great area for camping with heaps of room for Caravans and camper trailers, Toilets are on site. Please bring your own water and food, and maybe some beer to enjoy after the ride. If you want, you can come up on the Friday and camp over for two great nights under the stars at our tranquil creek side grounds ;D
Riding starts on 1.30pm Saturday and from 9.30am Sunday. Entries are open to all Pre 90 bikes, MX, Trail and Enduro. Head lights are not required. This is a non competitive Motorcycling Queensland event and you require either a MA License or a Single Event Recreational License which will be available on the weekend. Entry Fee is $50.00 plus $25.00 for a Rec License is needed.

Sounds great Lawrie.. :) can't wait.

Hey how would I go about getting an MA Licence? Since I plan to keep Vinduro-ing ant Murphy's I figure I might as well get one instead of paying for a one day permit each time.

Get ready for a ripper ride next weekend boy's ;D I've just come back from doing some of the track marking and if you like "old school"enduro riding this course has it all :D The new single trail tracks I've included this time will be a hoot to ride, there are some challenging sections, but not too hard. That said, the tricky stuff will have easy options, so if you're not feeling like Phil Lovett you can just follow the easy options. Then we have some easy stuff to get your thoughts back on the job before I send you back through some tight overgrown tracks, which I've cleared today. Every vinduro has a killer hill right, well we have two, that OK as you will be riding down those, happy days ;D ;D The track flows well and is suited for old bikes, the course is not a bike or rider destroyer, and I'm sure you will enjoy the mix of riding I've put together for you. I reckon riders with MX bikes will become vinduro tragic's after riding this course ;D ;D.
We will be camping down there from Friday night, so if you feel like coming up early please do so, it's going to be one hell of a weekend socialising and riding our old enduro or MX bikes. Happy days are here again.
See you all next weekend.

Had a ball out there. Fantastic ride on a 40 minute loop on Saturday arvo (did 3 loops) then a bit of rain overnight and did another 3 loops this morning. The track was absolutely pristine :)
Thanks to Lawrie, Mick and the rest of the team for organising such a great ride. Definitely be back there :)
-
Yeah thanks to the guys for a great event. The track was great and got even better after the rain. Who were the photographers?
-
Thanks for the positive feed back on our ride over the weekend. The Vinduro Gods certainly smiled on us with that little bit of overnight rain making a good track even better. We are looking at doing another TWO Vinduros next year, one in March and the other in September ;D ;D Lets hope there are no date clashes. The photographer was Allan McIntosh. To see his pics check out the Toowoomba Motorcycle Club Facebook Page. While you are looking at Facebook check out the Pictorial History of the Toowoomba Motorcycle Club page, you'll be surprised what our Club and our members have done over the past 103 years.

Thanks very much to Lawrie & the TMCC Team for all their work, I had a great weekend.
Both the Club & the riders made this a very friendly & welcoming event.
The loop was great, challenging in parts, but very suitable for vintage bikes.
Here's a link to the TMCC Facebook page, I had a bit of trouble finding it.

There are pics of me looking way more competent than I could have expected.
(shows what great photography can do & no special effects)

Guys, if you came along tell your mates how good the weekend was.
It is a bit of a disappointment for the state of Vinduro in SEQLD that we had 27 paying riders at such an event when the weather was perfect and conditions excellent. In February, we had 47 riders and the conditions then were atrocious, hot (40+) and very dusty.
Saying that, thanks to those who did come, it was great to see you there. I enjoyed the weekend even though I was as crook as rook-wood Sunday.
Murphy's Creek is an area that is great for Goanna's and dirt bikes, nothing else. We had a bloke on a YZ125S doing Lap after Lap so the track is not that hard on an MX bike.
Lawrie and I mark the loops out on old bikes, I was on an XR200 and Lawrie his 84 Husky so there is never anything in our ride that is beyond an average rider.
Please send me any feedback on the event or any way that we can improve or make the TMCC Vinduro better and attract more riders.
Do we need to get these events on the QVMX calender? Any other suggestions to attract riders? Do we need to advertise in a national Magazine to attract a wider audience?
My Email address is [email protected]
Cheers, Mick Jaeger

Was there any advertising done at CD10?
-
Contact VERi Vintage Enduro riders Incorporated and they can put it upon there web site and include it on there calander of events

That would of been the ideal place to spread the word.

Hey Mick, sometimes there is no rhyme or reason when it comes to event attendance. Having said that there are a few things you can do. Get the event on QVMX calendar for sure. It was on the VERi list, and send VERi the dates as soon as you know them so they can be added again.
Ask the people who did come how they found about the event and work on that. Also think of your demographic - are they likely to find out about your events online or on Facebook? Sometimes it help to use other methods too.
Was there something else on that weekend that might've affected numbers, like a rugby game etc?
Sometimes though there simply is no explanation!
Tex
-
QVMX had a club championship round at QMP on the same day......we where going to be at Echo Valley but swapped around the dates to make it easier for you guys. We are doing our calendar for next year soon so will send you a copy so you can work in with it. BTW, numbers always seen to drop off after the Conondale Classic in August.
-
Sorry I had to miss it, Mick. Life got in the way. As Tex says sometimes its just like that. It doesn't make ya feel any better. I should know.
I have asked my club if we can run another Conondale Vinduro Sprint and its a tough sell even to myself. I still believe a mix of comp and trail rides are the way to go.
As much as I would have liked us to have a good number of riders at vinduros by now, it's not happening yet. Maybe if we could just get the MX guys to give it a go, But I wouldn't count on that. I know it's tough but we just have to keep running them and telling every one how good they are.
John, I don't see how having a QVMX club event on the same day made it easier for them ???
-
Thanks all,
yes, we let a lot of people know at Classic Dirt, perhaps we should have had a few posters done up. Lawrie and I both were up there for the whole weekend talking to people.
Where does everyone suggest we advertise?
Noel is right though, there is a huge amount of bikes up here in SEQLD and both clubs seem to be struggling to get numbers attending events, either as a rec ride or a competition event. I do think that having these events on the QVMX calender is a great thing and can only help Vinduro grow. I can be contacted via Email [email protected]
Mick
-
Maybe instead of the QVMX calendar. How about getting them on the MQ calendar or maybe see if the MQ sub-committee can sort out a facebook page. So there is consistency state wide.
Noel
I realise the Vinduro at Conondale was rained out the first time, but then the club moved onto a date that Brisbane MCC ran an Inter-Club MX at Harrisville. If you clash Classic racing or events someone will suffer. Also maybe try a Vinduro that permits Veteran riders on more modern bikes to ride. Younger riders must be on Vintage bikes etc. Or just combine it with something else to get the numbers and make it viable.
Kevin

Thanks to Laurie and Mick and the rest of the club for probably the best laid out track yet in the past 3 years of attending...... and yes Laurie I got to see more of the property than most as I ended up following the wrong coloured arrows not ONCE BUT TWICE......
When I finally got to ride the section I missed I found out it was probably the best section of the loop.
Anyway had an absolute ball both days... and have a couple of bruises to show for it.. :P
In relation to advertising Mick I would agree with the MQ and QVMX calendar as the place to have the events listed in addition to the 2 main forums. Having a QVMX event on the same weekend in my opinion hurt numbers as I know at least 6 guys who would have normally come if the QVMX event did not get changed.
Thanks again for a great weekend of great riding and catching up with other riders.
Cheers Terry
