Title: Another Suspicious buyer.
Post by: Sorelegs11 on June 19, 2014, 08:58:58 am
Has anyone been contacted buy a bloke called Ben who allegedly works for New Zealand Oil and Gas wanting to buy a bike?
I have received the same email before after advertising a bike, wants a paypal acc no and wants to pick up by courier.

Sounds a bit SUS to me.

very suss, ignore him (hmmm best look up nz oil and gas and see if they exist?) sounds like the std scam .. off shore , courier, paypal overcharged fake invoice, refund please.....

I ignore them figuring if they are genuine, they will chase harder and call you. suprizingly, none have ever called... ;)

easy peasy,  here's how it works, your paid through pay pal, you give the bike to a courier, they say they never got the bike Paypal take the money back , you have no money and no bike.
There was a celebrated case in the UK where a fellow dumped the pay pal money into his bank acct ASAP, then did not relese the bike to a courier, because they were not authorised, after much too in and fro-ing he kept the cash and the bike

Bots looking for a fat wallet to vacuum.

If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck and you can hear quacking ..its a duck.

I have had 4 of these sus sms messages, ( trying to sell my boat ). They say " how much you want for the item " and what is the condition. Obviously cant read my ad as this info is in the description. You cannot call the number back as it is blocked. The one I got 2 days ago stated me to reply by email only. Another sms stated that they worked on the same NZ offshore oil rig and is only able to communicate via email, funny that the message was sent from a mobile. Scammers are rife trolling most common web selling/ buying sites.

Wank wank, money in their bank.
Avoid at all costs, if it sounds too good to be true, it is.

Ask for a pic of the NZ oil rig if it's bigger than this you know its a scam
