Hello,
Managed to get my 10 year old sons 1975 XR75 running on the weekend. It was bought a year ago as a non runner and had been sitting unused for 2 or 3 years.
Cleaned out the tank and carb, new plug and points, fresh oil, adjust valve clearances and started third kick. Compression seems O.K but I don't have a compression tester.
The bike is rideable but splutters under accelaration.
Problem is there is a lot of pressure when you remove the oil dip-stick - lots of wind and oil mist wanting to escape.
The son and I have enjoyed getting it this far - any ideas greatly appreciated.
Regards, Ron and Fin

hey watch me put the dipstick back in while the motors running ::),think you will find most hondas are going to vent bigtime when you remove the dipstick while motors running,(thats what the breather line at the crankcase backs for),you just gave it easier access to atmosphere, also because size of crankcases below decending piston is larger, compression is reduced but it still require release, don't panic(unless it smokes too ;D), :P
