I've just watched the best motocross DVD I've seen since On Any Sunday. It's called One Chance to Win and it's a full length feature documentary following the last three rounds of the 1975 AMA 500 Championship. Going into the last round in New Orleans there are six riders with a chance of winning, Pierre Karsmakers (Honda), Steve Stackable (Maico), Jimmy Weinert (Yamaha), Kent Howerton (Husky), Tony Di Stefano (Suzuki) and Billy Grossi (Suzuki) and it's so important for an American to win, Brad Lackey (Husky) flies home from Europe to act as a spoiler to prevent Karsmakers winning the championship. The politics and bitterness that comes out between the Americans (especially Lackey and Weinert) and Karsmakers is amazing. Poor old Pierre was really up against it that day. I won't tell you the result and how it was achieved because it will spoil the suspense for you.
The film was lost for 32 years after the distributor went belly up and it was uncovered by the folks who bought us the MX Files. Accompaning the 1 hour doco is a half hour doco on the politics behind what went on that day with interviews with all of the above riders plus Bob Hannah, Bill Buchka, Wieinerts mechanic, and a number of other players. This film shows just why the seventies were the greatest of motocross eras as Jody Wiesel from Motocross Action magazine says in the doco .....http://www.onechancetowin.com/about.php (http://www.onechancetowin.com/about.php)

Definately a great way to spend some time in front of the box for sure. There will be a copy on offer as an incentive trophy at the VCM meeting at barabool this weekend. Well worth winning.

I agree Firko, i've watched it a couple of times and it's got great race footage and interviews with the star riders and mechanics from the era. Since buying that DVD i purchased the Bob Hannah Motocross Files dvd. If you are a Bob Hannah fan it's a must see. The interviews with him and his mechanics and rivals are excellent. He says what he feels and has a great sense of humour also. He also gives a great speech at the One Chance to Win movie premiere and roasts a few of his old rivals.

Watched it last night. How times have changed.Well some things.
When men where men and woman wore no bra's. ;D
Todays bikes are just so easy and light to handle, they where all over the shot back in the 70's bumping/tossing,bouncing all over the show.
Also riders of today, just would not race in that heat.
10/10 great history dvd
