....or, come in sucker ::)
"If i knew anything concrete i would have added it in the listing. There are rumours among some of the VMX enthusiasts, who have called me to ask questions about the bike who know what they are looking at better than i do, that it COULD very well be one of Stephen Gall's old race bikes."
Did Gally ever sink his bum cheeks into the seat of a SC500? - not to my knowledge, and I doubt it when there were better Yamaha race bikes around like the YZ360.
and
"I dug through a stack of old VMX magazines and found an article in issue No.2 spring 1998 where they valued the bike at between $4000 to $5000 which was i bit of surprise to me and being 2008 that value is ten years old."
Implying its now worth $10,000 ??? ::). Yeah, that would be on a good day for an exceptional NOS or near NOS.
For me, curio value $2000-2500 8).

I'm too lazy to check, but if memory serves me, the $5k figure in VMX was on the condition that you could find a buyer at that price and for a really good bike....
I'll be surprised if the auction ends up outside of the $3.5~5k price range.

i'm a bit late into this thread but i reckon i've seen this bike in the flesh.
a few years back, i bought my RT1 yammie from a bloke in murwillimbah with a different ebay user name and he had a SC500 in the shed thats a dead ringer for this one. i offered to relieve him of it there and then but he was adamant it was not for sale. if it is the same bike, it looks freshly washed in the photo's and that would be to remove all the storage dust. my guess is it's low hour in usage. i like it.

you will like it till you
ride it ;D
