Title: A pe400 of mine.
Post by: frostype400 on May 19, 2014, 08:38:07 pm
Getting very keen on getting this one done and registered so I can ride with my mates on their new bikes.

I also just bought a pe175 83 full floater I am going to attempt to squeeze a 400 motor into as well I am sure I read ages ago some one had done that if so any chance on a picture I have read the article in ADB magazine of the pe250 in 175 floater so a 400 should also fit seeing as 250 and 400 use the same frame.

Hopefully this might give my mates a scare on their 450's my wr360 did but I wasn't a massive fan of that bike and I ended up selling it, thanks Michael.

Michael, a mate of mine put a PE400 into a 81 RM250 floater frame. It was a wicked enduro bike. That was in 1983 as I recall. He still has it and it hasn't been touched since 1984 I would say. Probably every bearing is frozen by now. Also has a XR500 motor that went into the PE400 frame. Don't think he ever finished that bike though. Still has it too. Both in NZ. Good luck with your project.

Sounds good it is a shame they didn't keep the pe400 and make it in a floater stock looking at another disc front end on the pe175 floater this one is using a 84 cr250 front end.

got your own house and a new shed Frosty? got enough bits to mock up a 400 motor then youll know if it will just go in with engine mount changes or frame cut and shutting. itd be a tight squeeze that's for sure and youll need a 2.15 back rim otherwise the little tyre is gunna be doing a lot of spinning tearing the tyre to peices  ;) ;D be a wilde ride though ;D oh to be young again

The sheds just spose to be for work/plumbing gear houses mostly cars and bikes though. ;D

I do have a 400 motor sitting that was out of a rm500 so it has a mount on it that may adapt straight in.

blueprint the motor and get it running sweet and you will blow the doors of the four fitties (they don't like it) gearing will be essential
