Title: machining swing arm pivots

As per title .... I have made Bronze bushes, and not too sure what material I should us for the spacer  ( internal sleeve ) that the axle spaces thru. 
What are your thought's ???        I have 4140 in mind.

recently did my ossa swingarm and just used aluminium bar nothing special(only cos it was a perfect fit) no probs so far.

How did you pull up the other day ol mate??, im just starting to feel ok! (im not in good shape....)

I use case-hardened linear shafting.  There are a limited number of diameters available so you may not be able to have a perfect match for the OEM diameter, but that can be accomodated by machining the bushings to match.  The centers are soft.

Correctly lubricated you could use a nylon block.

You can harden 4140 by heating it with an oxy and chucking it in oil.
I've done all my huskys with brass bushes and the original hardened center bush.
Works fine.

Steering rack shafts are cheap and hard.....easy to machine....they work real good. ;)

Machine the sleeve from 4140 then get it nitrided, nitriding doesn,t effect the finished dimensions or distort the sleeve in any way,it will give you about a 10 thou hard case with a high tensile core.

thank chr8st for that, I thought I was seizing up.. pushing that Villa finished me off...
